Me

Make: English & Dutch/South African Hybrid
Model: Male
Year: 1946

Born in Wakefield, Yorkshire of English and South African parents. Moved to Blackpool, Lancashire in 1954. Joined the British Army (Scots Guards) in 1966 and saw service in various countries including Northern Ireland. Married to a Yorkshire girl in 1970. Moved to Johannesburg, South Africa in 1979, and Cape Town in 1985.

I started to research my Family History in 1995 and have spent many hours compiling lists of the 2,000 or so names I can currently lay 'relationship' claims to.

In 1991 I set up a BBS (The NCS Cape Town) which stayed online 24 hours a day until early 1998, the main features were Genealogy and History. I have transferred many of the files to this Homepage.

My other hobbies consist of collecting Key Rings, and Walking (I have completed the annual Simonstown to Cape Town walk, 36 Km (24 Miles), for the last 3 years). I also collect Ball Point Pens, Business Cards, Post Cards, Cloth Badges, and Debts.....

My Wife and I are also Foster Parents. We have 3 children of our own, a Daughter of 25, a Daughter of 21 and a Son of 16. The 25 year old is an Inspector in the South African Police Services. Additionally we have a 6 year old fostered boy

My Key Ring Collection

I started collecting Key Rings/Key Chains shortly after
getting married in 1970. To date I have around 1,800
and hope to enter the Guiness Book of Records in the
not-too-distant future. The oldest is a modified medallion
and is dated 1860. The largest/heaviest is a brass plate
about A4 size and weighs in just short of a kilogram.
I also collect rock samples, and have items from the Ascension
Islands, Antarctica, Egypt and Zimbabwe, as well as a Fossil
and other interesting items.
