"THE LOST KISMO"

"The Beginning"

Once upon a time a long, long time ago. In a small village that was far, far away. In the beautiful Land of Werdna, there lived a small band of Kismo's. Now you're probably wondering, just what is a Kismo? Well they are about three feet tall, bald headed, good natured and friendly little beings. They resemble regular people like us except, they have a large two sided nose and very large eyes.

They live inside of the hollowed trees within the Forests of Yrag. The trees of this strange, yet beautiful forest grow hundreds of feet tall. So with such tall trees the bases are very wide. Though time the Kismo's have learned to hollow them out to provide shelter. As it turns out it makes an excellent home for them.

For many of centuries the Kismo's lived in peace within the forest of Yrag, until one day, many, many years ago a mean slithering creature, called the Ribmat, wandered into their peaceful forest and began to terrorize their existence. The Ribmat is a large snake like creature that would eat the Kismo's, if and when he could catch them and he always tried. The Ribmat was only a danger to the Kismo's at night, for he could not see well in the bright sunshine and would die if his temperature became too high. When the sun would rise so would the temperature and the Ribmat always made sure that he was deep down within his stone cold burrow, before the first warming rays of the sun sifted through the tall trees of the Yrag forest.

"Clang, Clang, Clang". The bell rang loudly in the center of the Kismo's village to summon all of the citizens to the meeting place. All the Kismo's hurried to the center of town to find out what the ringing of the bells was about. As the crowd assembled, their whispers turned into loud inquisitive discussion about what might be happening. The Kismo's counsel gathered, one by one upon the small but adequate podium.

The eldest of the Kismo's began to speak to the township. "Fellow Kismonians , it appears that we have a missing child, Eillom, the daughter of Ycart. She hasn't returned from the regor patch from yesterdays harvest. We are here now to assemble a search party to go and find her." Domyar quickly stood up and yelled, "I'll go, I'll go,I'll find her! I'll save her!" As quickly as Domyar stood up he found himself being pulled back down by his father, Yar. "Be quiet son. You don't know what you are saying. Many Kismo's have gone after the Ribmat and none of them have ever been able to find his burrow. Let alone to destroy him. Many have tried and have lost their lives to the horrible creature. The Ribmat will sneak up behind you and before you even know it. Your within it's grasp. Be quiet and sit down to listen to what the counsel has to say." Yar demanded.

The villagers talked together for awhile and then decided to form a small search party to try and locate the missing Eillom. No matter what Yar had told his son, Domyar was the first to volunteer for the search party. Yar looked at his son and realized that Domyar was determined to go and find Eillom, no matter what he said. This had Yar very troubled.

Domyar hurried to his room grabbed his backpack and began to fill it with all the things that he thought that he would need for the adventure. Quickly he ran back to the center of the village and found that he indeed was the first to return, ready to go. He stood there and waited for the other villagers to assemble. Within a few minutes, one by one they all appeared and soon they went on their journey towards the regor patch.
