Amazing Grace ready for another year's service

Amazing Grace is located at Anchor Point Marina in Curtice, OH. I've owned it since 1993. It's a 27' LOA, 8.5' beam cruising sloop, built in 1969. The hull and cabin are fiberglass. It has a shoal draft with a folding keel. Draft is about 3' with the keel up, and about 6.5' with the keel fully extended. It's great for the shallow west end of Lake Erie.

The boat comes fully equipped with a new VHF radio, new depth sounder, knotmeter, wind speed indicator, 2 compasses, anchor, new battery charger, new electrical panel and main switch, and lots of other stuff.

The boat has a 27hp 4 cylinder Palmer engine that runs very well. The prop shaft and bearing were replaced in 1998.

The rig was replaced in the late 1980's, as were the sails. There are 3 sails, including main, jib, and 150 genoa. The jib is on a Cruising Design roller furling. The sail cover is a UK Sailmakers Lazy Cradle combination sail cover and lazy jack.

The hull, deck and cabin were refinished this year. The hull was professionally sandblasted and sanded to the gelcoat. It was covered with Interlux Interprotect 2000/2001E epoxy to prevent water absorption and finished with Interlux antifouling bottom paint.

The deck was repainted with Interlux topside paints in 2000. The cockpit will be repainted this year.

The cabin has also been refinished. All of the teak and mahogany trim were removed, stripped, and refinished with four coats of Minwax polyurethane. All of the faux-wood grain bulkhead coverings are being replaced with top grade marine plywood and finished with the same polyurethane.

The carpet on the insides of the hull was removed and replaced by new fiberglass and 4 coats of West Systems epoxy, topped by Interlux topside paints.

The upholstery was professionally redone in 2000.
