Fire Department
We serve Starke County and parts of Jasper and
Pulaski County. Currently, we are a 17 member team of men
firefighters with 5 auxiliary members. We were under the
guidance of our fire chief Jake Jackson for 18 years.
Jake served on the department for a total of 24 years.
After his passing, we were under the guidance of Jerry E Russell
serving as our fire chief for 3 years. After 3 years Jerry
decided to retire from chief and just be a firefighter on the department.
Now the department is under the guidance of Jerry W Russell.
Dad wishes him well in
his new task.
By now I assume you have figured out that the new fire chief is my son. We have
elections each November to reinstate or elect new officers.
Our department holds a work meeting the first Thursday
of every month followed by a business meeting the second
Thursday of the month. We have training sessions
once a month on Sunday mornings to update our skills.
We are currently running our department with three brush trucks,
one first response/grass truck, two tankers,
one pumper,one arial and one rescue van.
I have decided to just retire totally from the department.
I wish all involved with the department the best in
taking care of our community. Jerry W. Russell has also
decided to be the new training officer of the department and
give up the Chief job.
