What is the Book ot Mormon About?

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is a volume of scripture comparable to the Holy Bible. It was written anciently by prophets somewhere in the Americas. Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God in 1820, and through several heavenly visitations was lead to find and translate the Book of Mormon by the gift and power of God. One of the first prophets who wrote in the Book of Mormon explained it's purpose by stating:

"[W]e talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write accourding to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."
(2 Nephi 25:26)

It is truly a book given us by a loving Father in Heaven. You may know that the Book of Mormon is indeed the word of God by reading it, pondering its message, and asking God if it is true in sincere prayer. As you do these things, I testify that you will come to a conviction that this ancient record is the word of God and you will know that the teachings it contains are true. The last prophet who wrote in the Book of Mormon issued this challenge and promise:

"Behold, I would exort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. And when ye shall receive these things, I would exort you that ye would ask God the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost you may know the truth of all things."
(Moroni 10:3-5)
