Poetry of Mine

This is a poem I wrote about a guy I liked in 8th grade. I know it is not that great, but the writing did not come from my pen, it came from my heart.... I call this one "The Most Amazing Person"

He always makes me laugh,
Never makes me cry
Constantly bringing joy to my life.

He gave me the faith to believe
That true love will never cease.

He has a sense of humor
That is really great,
So on his jokes, I can't debate.

He holds such talent
I really can't see,
Why so many people
Just refuse to agree.

Now you'll see why
All this time
I've been saying,
How this person is so amazing.

Here is another poem I wrote. It was about another (yes, another) guy I liked once upon a time, well, the poem explains it all. So without further adue, I present this poem which for the moment, holds no name.

I only have one question to ask,
Why is getting over you
Such a nervewrecking task?

It seems so unfair to me
That you just refuse to be
Out of my mind and heart forever.

Oh please, just thinking about you,
Carries on hopeless dreams,
Which are these.

That smile, Those eyes,
You're my dream come true
In disquise.

But all that you mean to me
Doesn't seem to matter when you
Refuse to think that
You and I will ever be.

Here is a poem I wrote for my 10th grade English class. You could say I personified the candle to my life, if that helps you to understand the meaning better. I thought it was decent enough to be posted on my page, so here ya go! I call it The Candle.

I brought light into your darkness
Yet you denied me any truth.
I showed you the path straight to your heart
When nothing else would do.

My flame burned intensly, strong and true
From this wick off which it grew,
Burned, burned, without a doubt
For no one else but you.

My aroma filled your heart,
And also deeply concealed your soul.
But all that lingers now,
Is the scent of the afterglow.

This is a poem I just recently wrote. I was up late one night, started crying, and decided writting may help. This poem is titled, These Tears.

The way you made me feel.
Every time you told me you loved me.
All the lies that were exposed.
Remembering what we shared.
Seeing you get away with my heart so easily.

I now give these tears to you
In hopes that you will soon see
That these tears I shed,
Were first given from you to me.

I wrote this poem for my ex-boyfriend of five years. That was in the beginning of our relationship.

Our love is that of a fairy tale,
Wonderful, exciting and new.
I have but one true love
And that true love is you.

I feel as if in a dream
Smiling happily as I sleep,
Praying I shall never wake up
From these enchantments, so deep.

If from any of these dreams
I were to awaken,
It would be by no one else,
By you, I am lovingly taken.

This poem was also written by me for my ex-boyfriend. I know some parts may not sound completely correct, but at least the feeling shows.

I feel as though I've loved you
Since the beginning of time.
You're my best friend,
I'm so lucky that you're mine.

I feel as if you're next to me
Even in different cities.
I wish you could be here,
Mom? Can Kev come over please?

We feel each other's love,
We feel each other's pain,
As long as we're together,
We have everything to gain.

I see in your eyes,
A love so sincere,
"Soulmates," they say,
Two friends with a love so real.

Here is a poem I just wrote about a friend, on March 27, 2002. Ok, so it's my boyfriend and my 3rd anniversary :) I wrote the poem about a lost friendship. Its not really gone I suppose, but college can really change people. We just never talk anymore. I would try, but he would be too busy, which I can understand. I'm just glad he is happy, because he deserves it more than anyone I know. Well, here it is, maybe someday he'll see it. I call it "Lost Laughter"

I remember when
Once that we were close.
We shared many things,
Smiles, in a large dose.

It really was great.
So then it seemed
That we'd grown apart
For no true means.

You found your comfort,
I had to seek mine.
Nothing was the same
Even over a time.

As close as we were
Nothing has changed.
But how can that be?
Who can we blame?

I think I understand,
Please believe this much.
Happiness is cherished
You deserve it's touch.

This next poem is my newest and took me ten minutes to write. I tried to write my feelings quickly, and to make them sound decent at the same time :) My relationship of five years has ended recently. I knew it was coming, yet did not expect it. Anyways, this is just a quick poem stating, well.. that I will survive..

Maybe it's best, maybe it's right,
But I can actually stand the thought
Of being without you tonight.

You make me angry, and full of hate.
Sometimes I'm glad I cant see your face.

Things will get better, I know in time,
It's safer that you're not mine.
We were two, water and oil,
Our relationship only caused turmoil.

I know that I am better than you say,
I will prove that to someone else someday.

Whether or not I shall fall
I won't need your help.
The day that I'm healed
I'll be proud of the way I dealt.

I will survive, this I know is true.
I will be a better person, without you.

i want the guy who will show me off to his friends. i want the guy who is proud to be standing next to me. i want the guy who truly believes i'm beautiful. i want the guy who will make love to me. i want the guy who looks into my eyes and tells me he loves me. i want the guy who is as much in love with me as i am with him. i want the guy who doesn't believe he deserves me. i want the guy who takes me places i've never been before. i want the guy who believes in me, no matter how much i don't believe in myself. i want the guy who dreams of the moment he can ask me to be his wife. i want you to be that guy. Are you that guy?

I have two poems that sort of go together. Well, they are about the same guy. The first poem was written before we went out and the second was after he broke up with me. I think the transition was interesting and I believe these poems need their own page. So, click here to see them.
