Smile--------I'm MURPHY!!!

Guess What I Discovered!!

Moths

Moths are not just for cats any more!!

Here it is, the third week in July. We've had a hot spell just like everyone else and strange things are happening. I have never seen such things in my life! Of course, my life hasn't been very long because, you see, I was born last Dec. 1. But I'm pretty darned smart and I can tell you, strange things are out there.

I first noticed that my cats were having TOO MUCH FUN! They would spring out the door and leap in the air--at nothing! I would watch them lurk in the bushes and suddenly SLAP a paw on the ground only to sniff at something that wasn't there!

Now, I know they like to tease me. When Mom lets me outside she clicks me on a rope. It's just long enough to reach the edge of the driveway (boo-hoo). Those ol' cats know this and they sit just out of my reach and taunt me. Sometimes they spring across the street and that MAKES ME BARK!! Mom yells. I'm in trouble. I hate that old rope. I should just BITE it and I could have a nice romp around town.

Well last nite I was out after dark and guess what I discovered!! The magic of the night. It was so neat; little THINGS flying through the air! I looked. I sniffed. Ohhhh, I was very quiet so Mom wouldn't yell at me. Wow...MOTHS everywhere! What fun!! I knew just what to do. I leaped into the air and snapped at them. Then I went SLAP and had one trapped under my paw. It tried to get away from me but I was too smart. You see, I have been watching those cats and I AM PREPARED!

Leaping and twirling under the stars. Snapping and slapping at those things from mars. Ohhh, it was glorious--what FUN cats can have. And it's not just for cats any more. It's for ME! Yes I can leap at a moth and I can dive at a moth and I CAN CATCH A MOTH!!

But-----I forgot about the rope (boo-hoo). I was wrapped up like a mummy. Trapped like a dummy. I didn't know what to do and I don't like my rope--not one bit! Bark----noooo----Yip----noooo----Whine--yes, that's it. Mom will come get me--I know she will. Nope--better be quiet--she'll be mad at me! I just laid there all in a bundle hoping for magic to release me in the mothy night. I was sooooo quiet. Suddenly Mom found me and set me free. She couldn't help but be laughing at me.

Ohhhhh the humiliation.

But now I'm waiting for tonight when it's dark and the stars are bright. I'll say I have to go potty---but you know what I'll be doing. Moths, wonderful Moths! Noooo, they're not just for cats anymore!!! :-)

Bye for now. Come back soon to see what else I will be discovering!!
I love you!!!
