BUILD YOUR OWN DETECTOR STAND
Imagine going to the spot you have dreamed of detecting, it was an old fair grounds dating back to the mid-1800's. You get there and the rain just finished soaking the ground, the first signal you get reads "quarter" and its deep. You set the detector down and dig the hole. Trying to re-check the hole, you discover that your detector is silent. Unplugging the headphones makes no difference, just silence. No matter what you do, there is no response from your $800 dollar machine. A couple of drops of rain, dew, or snow is all it takes to ruin a machine. Taking the machine to the "repair shop" or just drying the machine out, takes valuable time that could have been spent detecting.

Here is an in-expensive item that could save you hundreds of dollars in repairs to your detector investment.

Start with approximately 20 inches of 1/2 inch PVC pipe, 3 elbows, 3 caps, and 1 "T". Cut the PVC pipe with a handsaw, into three pieces about 2 1/2 inches long, and three pieces about 4 inches long. Attach the 2 1/2 inch sections into the "T" and add the three elbows to the now extended "T".

. Attach the three 4 inch sections into the ends of the elbows for the legs of your stand, seal them off with the 3 caps. If you wish, you can use a touch of glue (recommended) in EACH joint of your stand for stability, however if you wish make your stand with a "collapsible" capability, omit glueing.

These stands are relatively easy to make and the cost is minimal. The only problem is to figure out what to do with the left-over PVC pipe!
