1986 The entire registration system became computerized - Standard had colored pictures of rabbits and cavies for first time
1985 Peifer reitired and Glen Carr became Secretary - Standardized remark card and combination entry and report form was adopted and made available to clubs and individual members.
1976 In less than 10 years the membership went from 11,000 to 33,000
1972 Membership at 9,407 adults, 1,415 youth - Jimmy Blyth retired and Oren Reynolds appointed Ed Peifer, Jr. as Secretary
1971 Oren Reynolds becomes President and decides youth deserve more - He proposed to take youth into ARBA under same rules and privilages as adults except the right to vote; dues and show fees would be cheaper - Ellis Murray suggested calling it the "Reynolds Plan" and gave it a six-month trial - There were 700 youth members and in less than a year the membership was over 1,500 youth - Continued to grow to 14,000 in 1996 - First ARBA official picking of Best In SHow at convention and won by Ellsworth Tibbets with a Silver Marten
1949-1966 Membership decreased to just over 5,000
1958 "Youth Division Specialty Club" launched with Mrs. Valouch as Secretary and a national sweepstakes opened but did not succed because many states had very few-no youth shows
1955 First yearbook issued
1952 Name chnaged again to the current name: "American Rabbit Breeders Association"
1950 Standard of Perfection printed as a seperate book
1949 ARBA Bulliten started - "Practical Beginner Booklet" avalable to breeders for 10¢ - First recognition of a youth program
1946 James Blyth elected Secretary - Membership is at 8,000
1943 On Feb. 1st, A. Weygandt suffered a paralytic stroke and was forced to retire - President Fehr appointed Lewis S.J. Griffen as Secretary - membership is at 1,600
1932 Last known BIS won by Edward Stahl with a Giant Chinchilla doe - Many breeders had disagreed with placing and argument ended in a fist fight - result was that the ARCBA dropped the award
1923 A Weygandt is elected Secretary - Club name change to: "American Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association"
1922 At convention, decision made to get new Sectrary/Treasurer - Secretary/Treasurer job is seperated
1921 Ellis L. DeLancey elected President - Raymond L. Pike elected Secretary/Treasurer - Charles S. Gibson was not happy with the arrangement and quit his new job of fieldman and organizer - Raymond L. Pike ended up putting the club into dept
1920 The Old National with H.M. Adolf as President and George Eckert as Secretary/Treasurer ceased to exist - H.M. Adolf elected President for New National
1919 Trouble in club arises and is split into the "New National" and the "Old National" - Joe Blank was President and Charles Gibson was Secretary of the New National
1918 By June 1st, membership increase to 500 with over 40 local associations chartered - W.H. Ashton elected President
1917 The word "pet" was dropped from the name and is now: "The National Breeders and Fanciers Association of America" - First real constition and by-laws, show rules, and standard proposed - Annual convention proposed and accepted
1916 Lewis S.J. Griffen elected President
1914 In Sep., Pikes Peak Rabbit and Pet Association is the first club to charter with the National Pet Stock Assoc.
1913 Roy Knill elected President and Charles S. Gibson elected Secretary/Treasurer
1910 Other breeds of rabbit imported - Thirteen people came together to form an all breed club on January 10th; Club called: "National pet Stock Association" with William Lyons as President, George Eckert as Vice President, Charles S. Gibson as Secretary/Treasurer, and George Eckert, Ben Gibson, and Al Funkes as Directors - There were 183 members the first year
