Hey..I was caught drinking and driving earlier but let off the hook since I am famous. As much as I can't complain i was let off..I know they didn't do the right thing in letting me off. I had worked closely with Cheryl (the aunt of these 2 boys), so this is a little more personal to me. I feel like I knew them. I have recently been hit from behind by a drunk driver while at a stop light Jan. 2000, but although I have physical therapy 3 days a week and am having so many problems with the insurance companies and bills, etc...that is nothing compared to the pain an suffering these parents, family and friends have gone and will continue to go through. I may have suffered minimal injuries, but when something like this happens, it changes your outlook on life totally..it's not easy. There's more to life than drinkin alcohol every weekend with your buddies. It's cool to be the sober one..the one that drives everyone home. But them again, you don't have to drink to have a car accident. Like my mom always says, " Be careful---and it's not you--it's the other person. Be safe, be courteous and most of all...be smart! Take care....

I thought I remembered that Mrs. Cindy set up a web page for Josh and Tyler, and I wanted to check it out. When I was assigned to present a persuasive speech at college, I knew it had to be drunk driving. My grandmother has been in a wheelchair for near y 33 years because of a drunk driver, and after Josh and Tyler's death because of a drunk driver I knew I had to include these examples in my speech. This website was extremely helpful to me in learning more about Josh and Tyler, and helpful in gathering information for my speech. I felt very compelled and confident in speaking about drunk driving. I felt that it was meant for me to include Josh and Tyler because I was assigned to speak on May 3,2000, exactly 3 years from the accident. If you read this Mrs. Cindy, I want you to know what a blessing you are for honoring Josh and Tyler like this and sharing your experiences. I hope that by speaking about this I touch the heart of at least one person listening. I included Josh and Tyler, not to exploit he accident, but to honor them. I will do whatever I can to prevent drunk driving accidents and fatalities as long as God gives me the privelege to breathe. My daughter's two children were killed by a drunk driver while visiting with us in Pa. We brought them home on July 6th, went camping with our youngest daughter and her family on July 10th, and on July 11th while the kids were walking up the driveway lead ng to the camp a drunk driver ran up the driveway 10 feet and killed the two who were visiting with us, the other grandson was not injured physically, but mentally he suffered and still does. We are waiting for them to set a trial date, so things are stil very hard for all of us. My daughter and you have so much in common, due to loosing two children. This site is amazing. I can hardly imagine what you have gone through. I am 18 years old and have sworn never to drink and drive. I am a member of OSAID (Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving). One of my best friends was killed in a terrible accident by a drunk driver. He was on his way home from a party where he had been the designated driver and had just dropped off the last person. I'm so sorry for the loss of your two boys. My nephew was killed by an 18 year old drunk driver. The sad part about it is that he still is running free to kill again and make some other family's life miserable if he kills again. We are still fighting the justice system here in Lubbock, Tx to over turn his charge of DWI. So we can have some type of closure with my nephew's death. I just read the judge's sentence for that poor excuse for a human being. He deserved everything he got and more. My daughter, Margaret Kathleen, was murdered by a drunk driver on July 25, 1987. She was 20 years old, and my youngest. The drunk served 3 months of a 1 1/3 to 4 year sentence. I can only tell you that I wish I could bring back your sons, but, of course, that is impossible. Know that I will think of you often as I do all the other victims of drunk drivers that I have met in the years sinc my daughter was killed. Will it never stop? Who, and how many, have to be killed before this country changes its attitude about drunk driving deaths and injures. I am so sorry for your loss.

This page was helpful to my best friend and I for our Minnesota state STAR events. We have been looking for a place to find stories and when we found this one it really touched our hearts because my best friend's cousin was killed in a drunk driving acci ent after she dropped her childern off at daycare. My husband and I recently lost our 12year old, Sam, from an undetected heart defect. He collapsed at school and was gone before we got to the hospital. He was our only child. He was our joy and love and we did everything together. Losing him was so devest ting. I cannot imagine how it was for you losing two sons in such a horrible manner. I don't usually explore someone's website like I did on yours but it touched me with how beautiful it is. It is still so fresh and painful for us to talk about Sam. He ha a lovely smile just like your boys and was so happy and kind. We live in northern British Columbia in Canada and we have strict laws concerning drinking and driving but it was good to see the jail sentence that awful man received. Sometimes even here peo le get light sentences for their crimes and I'm glad he didn't. My sympathy to you and your family. My mom was killed by a drunk driver July 6, 1994, by a serious repeat offender. She was in court only hours before she killed my mom, on a previous DWI arrest. I was 4 months pregnant with my 1st child when she was killed. Family was everything to mom, an her grandkids! My son was born Dec. 20, 1994. Christmas of '94 was extremely hard for me. I sat in mom's rocking chair most of the day and cried and cried. I can't imagine loosing him, like I did mom. What strength you have Cindy, I wept when I read your boys' story. When I first started working for our department's DWI Task Force I felt sort of bad about arresting drunk drivers and having them lose their license to drive. Those feelings didn't last long though. Every time I go out to a scene where another death has o curred due to a drunk driver and when I read stories about such incidents, like yours, it makes me feel grateful that I am in a position where I can arrest these people. Now, with every arrest, I think about the lives I have saved and the families that wi l not have to suffer through the loss of a loved one, at least not due to the driver I have arrested on this night. Cindy,I really enjoyed meeting you and your family when I was visiting my parents a few weeks ago. My parents have told me what very special people you and your family are. They have told me about your boys and the great love they shared for one another. y heart aches when I think of your loss. I admire your courage and strength by sharing your experience with others. As my parents have told you I received a heart transplant ten years ago. My donor was a young 23 year old mother of two. She was pregnant w th her third child when she was killed. First off I have to say, I am Very soory to hear the tragedy your sons had to experience. For sure they are in the Heavenly heavins looking down at us waiting for our arrival. For one day we All Shall see the light. I lost my brother due to an offshore ac ident quite a few years back. On his birthday, I still have a hard time. As I write this line, I have tears in my eyes. Nobody can be replaced for we are all unique. I remember hearing of this tragedy when it happend. My cousin in Ville Platte kept me up o date on the happenings there. I lived there in the 80's. I drove my 1978 blue Camaro all over main street around Sonic, then across the street to Starks. Over and over again. Those days were fun,, don't ask me why. Well for sure its seeing all my friend . God Bless your family, from the Castilles in TX to your Family. God is taking good care of your two sons, you can count on it. I shall have them in my prayers.

Cindy and Lee, I just wanted to sign again. I have two boys that are almost the same age as Tyler and Joshua. Each time I look at my sons I see the shadow of these wonderful two boys, playing, building forts and doing their favorite things together and th t was just plain ole exploring at their grandparents house. You see I am Joshua and Tylers' aunt and there is just nothing that I can say to describe the terrible loss and grief our family has gone through. I know people think, this will never happen to t em, and I couldn't believe the call when it came. If this had been a accident then I could understand in my mind why this happened but, it wasn't.....this was a selfish act, that was done by someone that couldn't think beyond their own desires. Hi Cindy, Where do I begin, your page,poems,and stories about the boys are beautiful. I believe we are going thru the same tragedy in our life. I live in Ville Platte and I think you have read the news about our accident this past June. On June 9, 1998 a eautiful evening John and I were going to a baseball game in Pine Prairie when from no where someone hit us from behind throwing the vehicle into the ditch. John was ejected from the vehicle and died on impact. I was 6 months pregnant at the time of the a cident and was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. At this time I did not know John's condition but I knew it was bad because he was not in the truck when I came to. My mother, father, and friends were with me in the hospital when I was told tha John did not make it. My life was shattered in a matter of minutes. The baby's life was also shattered and in jeopardy from the impact. At this point the state trooper told me a drunk driver had hit us. The baby made it thru everything and I also had ser ous injuries in which I am still suffering from. Our son (Dalton John Morein) was born on Oct. 16, 1998 and is the most beautiful thing. John would have been so proud of him because he was so excited it was a boy we were having. Now because of one man's c oice to drink and drive, Dalton will never know his daddy or do certain things with him like other little boys do. Today is also John's birthday and he would have been only 30. We were only married for a year and a half and we had our lives planned for ma y years. Now I have to be a mother and a father to Dalton. I used one of your poems to put in Thursday's paper in memory of John for Our Anniversary and his Birthday. It was such a beautiful poem and I wanted people to read it and think twice around the H liday season not to Drink and Drive because it can change your life as well as theirs. My husband is an alcoholic who used to try to drink and drive. I refuse to let him get behind the wheel of a vehicle when he is drinking! I like to remind him that it's not his life I worry about.
