The way we talk, the values we hold are a part of were we had our roots.
Many of us have been discriminated against because of our heritage but the hills of Eastern Kentucky have produced more than its share of doctors scientist and good citizens of our nation.
 
 

THEN

David Chafin, I am the son of Rolla Chafin, who at the time of my birth was the Postmaster of Weeksbury. In 1946 we moved to Wheelwright were my father was the manager of the service station a division of the company store.

My grandfathers were Dave Chafin who was the conductor of the passenger train that ran from Martin  from day one until the line closed the passenger service. My other grandfather was Grover Stevens Postmaster at Hite just south of Martin.

Ada Chafin is the daughter of Jack Blair who was a miner at Wheelwright. Her grandfathers were Dave Blair, who was the carpenter foreman and Bob McKinney who was shop foreman.
