Lars Hansen

Rev. Hansen was a very stern man. The only antecdote I know of him was from his later years when he stayed with his daughter Dora, her husband Carl Christensen and their two boys.
The Reverend would go on visitations on Sunday in a one horse buggy. One Sunday he was trying to hitch up the buggy. He would go on one side and slide the pole into the guide on the harness and then he would go around the other side of the horse and by the time he put the pole into the guide, the other side fell out.
His grandsons, who were very young at the time, were behind the buggy. They would step up on the spokes to turn the wheel a little so the buggy would roll back and the poles would come out of the harness. When the Reverend realized what they were doing, he grabbed the buggy whip and chased them around and around the buggy. Dora used to say that was the best laugh she had ever had as she watched the whole thing from the kitchen window.
