Presentation is with an acute onset of scotomata and photopsia.

Examination shows scattered, small, yellow or grey, inner choroidal lesions at the posterior pole. A serous retinal detachment may develop in some cases where the lesions are plentiful.There is no associated anterior uveitis or vitritis.

Treatment in most cases, is not required and the visual prognosis is good. the acute lesions resolve within a few weeks to leave behind sharply demarcated atrophic scars which may resemble those associated with histoplasmosis.With time the scars may enlarge and become pigmented.In a few cases secondary choroidal neovascularization develops in association with a scar and requires laser photocoagulation.
