Beliefs

Hello I am Wes (aka heavnbound) and I am the Co-Liason of the Heritage Community Center. I have chosen to do this page on Beliefs because it is closely related to the Religion page you will find here in the topics section and to my own website Spreading the Word. Every three months as this column is updated, I will be "featuring" a different belief, so if you do not see anything you are interested about this month, check back and it might be next time the page is updated!

The hard part of doing a page like this on Beliefs is separating the "belief" from the "religion". Religions are based on a collection of certain beliefs and the line between beliefs and religion sometimes gets fuzzy. My aim in this page is to talk about peoples beliefs without getting into the religion issues. And I feel that, at least for now, I have been able to single out a few subjects that I will be talking about in the coming months about beliefs. Some of the articles I will be writing about in the near future include:

  • The American Indians beliefs in "spirits".
  • Superstitions and Omens
  • Ancient Mythology
  • Witchcraft,Fortunetelling, and "Black Magic"
  • Reincarnation
  • Healing Arts
  • Modern "New Age" beliefs
  • and others as they come to me!
In these pages, I hope to discuss such things as how and where the belief originated, what condition or question the belief tries to answer (life after death, creation, why things happen, etc.) and other factors and interesting facts about the belief and the people whom it affects.
