In Loving Memory

The angels.. singing unto one another,
can find among their burning terms of love,
none so devoted as that of "mother."

Mom had always wanted me to write her a poem and as it usually was for me, I always had a hard time sorting out my feelings for her. I tried several times to do it, only to throw it away for lack of words. We didn't have the usual connections mothers and daughters had while growing up so I was always having a hard time putting my feelings into perspective. I couldn't write about the wonders of childhood and all she did to teach me, because my memories were not of great recollections. It was a pretty bad time so far as I was concern. You see, as children we tend to remember the bad things and exaggerate them, not only to others , but to ourselves, and so we are self decieved.Viewing my mother as another "human being" and not a mother put a new light on the complete situation for me. I made peace with Mom long before her passing, but still never managed to do the one thing she wanted. So I hope this poem will fill the void that I shared with her. I know it has done a lot to relieve some of my pain. So Mom this is for you. I hope you like it.

Though you have gone to a better place.
We miss the smile that's on your face.
We miss the love that you had shown.
When time's were tough and we felt alone.
We miss the sound of your cheerful laugh.
And all the questions you would ask.
The way you would always pry and poke.
It's weird but now, it's not a joke.
So many things where left unsaid.
When we think of them now, we feel such dread.
But that's not the way you'd want us to feel.
For you want us to grow, laugh and heal.
As you watch over us Ma, we want you to know.
That your in our hearts, our minds and our soul.
Through words of faith we want you to hear.
We Love You Mom and We Keep You Near.
Gone But Not Forgotten,
With All Our Love,
Your Children

I Thought of You Today

*****

I thought of you today
Like many times before
I thought of you with fond memories
Like waves upon a shore.

I thought of all the time that's passed
Since last we said Hello
You left an emptiness in my heart
That burns my very soul

So take this very simple poem
And carry it home with you
And know I think of you often
In all I say and do

I thought of you today
But let me say before I close
I think of you everyday
In ways you'll never know
I miss you Mom,
Donna
