FACTS ABOUT THE GIANT PANDA

The giant panda is an endangered bear from bamboo forests in the mountains of China.  This black and whire mammal gets to be about 3 to 4 feet tall at the schoulders and weighs about 250 pounds.
Chinese people call rhe panda "Da xiong map" which means "giant bear cat" in Chinese.
This bear is quite different from the other bears.  It has unusual CAT-LIKE eyes and it fron paws with an opposable "thumb.  Most bears' eyes have round pupils.  The exception is the giant panda, whose pupils are vertical slits, like cat' eyes.  This gives them very good eyesight.
