He spent that first night hoping they'd come to get him the next day.
He cried himself to sleep that night, and tried hard not to think.
About being all alone here; what was he going to do?
They'd taken all his play toys; the old slipper and old shoe.
When morning came, he saw a car but is wasn't his "old" family.
It was the lady who petted him yesterday; he wondered who she might be.
She had a leash and hooked it on, then put him in her car.
She drove him to the country; he'd never been this far.
She had a house and great big yard; where he could run and play.
And when he met her other dog, he knew here he would stay.
His new friend Girlie and he are now the best of pals.
He has a brand new family, a happy life, thanks to that old gal.
He thinks about his other life, the family that's gone.
But then he looks around and says......"Now I'm REALLY home"!
There's love here in this household; he loves them all so much.
If heaven has a place on earth; it's a gentle master's touch.
