Blue Eyeshadow and Legwarmers:
A Cali Valley Girl's 80's Reflection Page

Welcome! Since my Web home is my escape from the stresses of today, what better way than to return to a decade that was fun for me, before the real world kicked in.

The Eighties took me from elementary school, up to beginning college. (Dont be doing any math on me now!)

One Movie that I think really reflects the Eighties scene as I remember it is Valley Girl. The girls in the movie hung out in the famous "Galleria" mall in Sherman Oaks, California, just as my friends, my sister, and I did. Get a load of these totally rad pix from the movie!

Like oh my god, look at Nicholas cage! Ha ha
The plot revolves around whether or not the popular Valley Girl Julie will choose the cool punk looking guy from Hollywood, Randy (Cage), over her shallow Valdude Tommy. Despite pressure from her friends, guess who falls in love? this movie is a must if you love the eighties! Great lingo from the movie includes: fer shurr, groady to the max, barf out, freak me out, like totally awesome, gag me, bitchen, and totally gnarly.

More Great 80's Movies:

The eighties gave us too many great movies for me to even name, so I'm just focusing on a few favorites. I always loved those high school adventures and cheesy love stories. One definite classic is The Breakfast Club which puts 6 high school kids from different cliques and backgrounds together in one Saturday detention. Sparks of many kinds fly as they get to know each other. The movie also has quite the cast of 80's icons, including: Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy.

More of my fave 80's movies are:
Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and Say Anything.

All filled with humor, sappiness, and great music.

Did I mention music??? I sure did!! Well I could go on and on about 80's music because it is still my favorite music to listen to. But to save you from reading pages and pages of my ramblings, I'm just going to list the Billboard #1 song of each year in the 80's.

Billboard's #1 songs of the 80's:

1980: "Call Me", Blondie
1981: "Physical", Olivia Newton John
1982: "Centerfold", J. Geils Band
1983: "Total Eclipse of the Heart", Bonnie Tyler
1984: "What's Love got to do with It?", Tina Turner
1985: "Can't Fight this Feeling", REO Speedwagon
1986: "Walk Like an Egyptian", The Bangles
1987: "With or Without You", U2
1988: "Anything for you", Gloria Estefan & the Miami Sound Machine
1989: "Right Here Waiting", Richard Marx

Ok, I just cant help it! I have to mention some of my favorite 80's bands: Stray Cats, Men at Work, Clash, Cure, Poison and Motley Crue....just to name a few!

And we cant forget the beginning of Madonna!
