The Descendants of Etheldred Blake
Etheldred Blake was born ca. 1783/4 in North Carolina and died ca. 1870-1880 in North Carolina. He lived in Southampton Co., VA in 1784. He inherited land, a feather bed and furniture from his father. On May 3, 1849 in Montgomery Co., NC, he married Caroline Carter. Caroline was born ca. 1817-20. She was likely his second wife. The name of his first wife is not known yet. Etheldred served in the War of 1812.
1. Isham/Isom Flax Blake was born March 1829. On July 16, 1863 he married Mary "Polly" Batten, born ca. 1825. Polly was previously married to his brother Squire James Blake. Isham entered the Confederate Army as a Pvt in Co. K 34th Regt on September 9, 1861. He deserted on May 20, 1863.
1a. Abraham Lincoln "Link" Blake was born January 6, 1865 in Montgomery Co., NC and died in 1934. He married Jenette Elizabeth Harris. Elizabeth was born February 1871. Their home was about 5 miles west of Candor on SR# 1516. They attended Parsons Grove Church. In 1900 they lived in Hollingsworth Twp., Montgomery Co., NC. Abraham's father, Isham, lived with them.

1ac. Evander Blake was born February 23, 1893/February 1892 and died February 4, 1935. He was married on July 6, 1912 to Claudia Parker, born May 30, 1894 and died December 26, 1939. Evander was a sawmill operator. The family moved to Moore County in 1921. They are buried in the Blake Family Cemetery located southwest of Candor, off SR#1516.
