" Angel In My Pocket " I am a tiny Angel,I'm smaller than your thumb; I live in peoples pockets That's where I have my fun. I don't suppose you've seen me, I'm too tiny to detect; Though I'm with you all the time, I doubt we've ever met. Before I was an Angel, I was a fairy in a flower; God, Himself, hand-picked me, And gave me Angel power. Now God has many Angels that He trains in Angel pools; We become His Eyes, Ears and Hands We become His special tools. And because God is so busy, With way too much to do; He said that my assignment Is to keep close watch on you. When He tucked me in your Pocket, He blessed you with Angel care; Then told me to never leave you, And I vowed always to be there. Submitted By: Tammy Stoll
" Crystal Tears " As He quietly cried in silence, Crystals Tears of sadness wet His cheek. He gladly gave His life for those who have Sinned.... The Strong, Wicked and the Weak........ As He flenched in pain the sharp thorns pierced His forehead........ Crimson red drops of hot blood flowed like moulten lead Upon His shoulders all are sins and burdens He bears, Wrapping us in His arms to let us know how much He cares......... And after all these years Crystal Tears of sadness still wet His tender skin......... The world He gave His Life for is fast becoming a loony Bin............ If one by one we could learn to love each other and live in His Precious Grace........ ..........Crystal Tears Of Happiness Would Shine Upon His Face.......... Written By: Margaret Mosley ..... " NO TIME " I knelt to pray but not for long, I had too much to do... I had to hurry and get to work for bills would soon be due...... So as I knelt I said a hurried prayer, And jumped up off my knees.... My Christian duty was now done My soul could rest at ease.. All day long I had no time To spread a word of cheer. No time to speak of Christ to friends, They'd laugh at me I'd fear. No time, no time, too much to do, That was my constant cry, No time to give to souls in need But at last the time, the time to die..... I went before the Lord, I came, I stood with downcast eyes... For in his hands God held a book; It was the book of life. God looked into his book and said Your name I cannot find. I once was going to write it down..... But never found the time..... Now to all who reads this, let me ask you, do you have the time to pass it on so others May Take The Time.......... Submitted By: Linda Wideman
" You Found Beauty In Me " No longer am I alone as you see me standing here..... I am surrounded by beauty that no man can deny... I open up my self to all I see and I have not fear.. As you look at me I see within you, asking why? How can it be that I never stand alone when you look at me? How can I shrivel and die when in such beauty I first was? You ask what is it that I want all the world in me to see? I say to you that what you see now is all that I am and was! How is it, you ask, can I sing with the wind and not be blown away? How can I dance with the thorns attached and not be bruised? How is it that I seem so happy on this my dying day? I say to you it's...... .............. Because It Was In Beauty I Was Always Used .............. So with no fear I now say to you my finial good-byes.....I thank you for all the love you have shown me today.... There should be no questions in your hearts as to why....... Just kiss my petals as you blow them now so gently away... Yes I am the Yellow Rose that was given to you in Love... ............. " When GOD Made MOMS " By the time the Lord made Mothers, he was into his sixth day of working overtime....... An Angel appeared and said, Why are you spending so much time on this one? And the Lord answered and said, Have you seen the spec sheet on her? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have 200 movable parts, all replaceable, run on black coffee and leftovers, have a lap that can hold three children at one time and that disappears when she stands up, have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart, and have six pairs of hands....... The Angel was astounded at the requirements for this one. Six pairs of Hands! No Way! said the Angel. The Lord replied, Oh, it's not the hands that are the problem........ It's the three pairs of eyes that Mothers must have! And that's just on the standard model? The Angel asked.......... The Lord nodded in agreement, Yep, one pair of eyes are to see through the closed door as she asks her children what they are doing even though that she already knows.......... Another pair in the back of her head, are to see what she needs to know even though no one thinks she can........ And the third pair are here in the front of her head............... They are for looking at an errant child and saying that she understands and loves him or her without even saying a single word. The Angel tried to stop the Lord..... This is too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish.... But I can't! The Lord protested, I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own Heart.... She already heals herself when she is sick and can feed a family of six on a pound of hamburger and can also get a nine year old to stand in the shower........The Angel moved closer and touched the woman, But you have made her so soft, Lord.... She is soft, the Lord agreed, but I have also made her tough....You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish.... Will she be able to think? Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason, and negotiate... The Angel then noticed something and reached out and touched the woman's cheek...Oops, it looks like you have a leak with this model...I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one...That's not a leak... The Lord objected... That's a tear! What's the tear for? the Angel asked..... The Lord said, The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her disappointment, her pain, her loneliness, her grief, and her pride... The Angel was impressed..You are a genius, Lord...You thought of everything for WOMEN are truly amazing.. Submitted By: Jo Ann Baker
" THE CROSS " The young man was at the end of his rope. Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer. "Lord, I can't go on," he said. I have too heavy a cross to bear The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish." The man was filled with relief. "Thank you, Lord," he sighed, and he did as he was told. Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible. Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall....... "I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered....... And the Lord replied, " My son, that is the cross you just brought in." When life's problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see what other people are coping with.....You may consider yourself far more fortunate than you imagine YOUR CROSS TO BE........ There will always be sunshine after the rain..... Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall, but God is always there..........You don't have to believe, or think, or say, or do anything. He just is and always will be.....................! ODD how you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the LORD, people think twice about sharing.......................................! " SOMEONE SPECIAL " People come into your life for a REASON, a SEASON, or a LIFETIME. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.....When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need that you have expressed outwardly or inwardly............ They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually........ They may seem like a GOD-SENT and they are.... They are there for the REASON you need them to be.Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to a end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away... Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand...... What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done............. The Prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.. When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn... They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh..... They may teach you something you have never known. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is Real! But, only for a SEASON. LIFETIME relationships teach you LIFETIME lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person or people (any way) and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life... Please take the time to think of Someone who has given to You........... a REASON,a SEASON or a LIFETIME and when you do,You Will Remember That " SOMEONE SPECIAL " Submitted By: " Ann " From Texas
" SOMEONE DOES CARE " I found God in the morning, we just sat and talked. I kept Him near me, everywhere I walked. I called on God at noontime, a heart filled with dispair. I felt His quiet presence, I knew "He" was there. We met again at sunset, the waning of the day ~~ I had made Him happy ~~~~ I had lived " His way." Then when at bedtime I knelt, silently in prayer ~~ Again His gentle presence I felt, " Someone Does Care." Submitted By: Eleanor G. Reynopr
" ON THE WINGS OF A PRAYER " Just close your Eyes and open your heart, And feel your worries and cares depart.. Just yield yourself to the Father above, And let him hold you secure in his love........ For life on earth grows more involved, With endless problems that can't be solved, But God only asks us to do our best, Then he will take over and finish the rest.. So when you are tired, discouraged and blue, There is always one door that is open to you, And that is the door to "The House of Prayer" , And you'll find God waiting to meet you there........ And The House of Prayer is no further away, than the quiet spot where you kneel and pray. For the heart is a temple when God is there As we place ourselves in his loving care...... And he hears every prayer and answers each one When we Pray in His name, Thy will be done.......The burdens that seemed too heavy to bear Are lifted away " On The Wings Of A Prayer ".............................. " YOU TOOK MY PLACE " One day, a man went to visit a church. He arrived early, parked his car, and got out. Another car pulled up near him, and the driver told him, I always park there, " You took my place! " The visitor went inside for Sunday School, found an empty seat and sat down. A young lady from the church approached him and stated, That's my seat! " You took my place! " The visitor was somewhat distressed by this rude welcome, but said nothing. After Sunday School, the visitor went into the church sanctuary and sat down. Another member walked up to him and said, That's where I always sit. " You took my place! " The visitor was even more troubled by this treatment, but still said nothing. Later, as the congregation was praying for Christ to dwell among them, the visitor stood and his appearance began to change. Horrible scars became visible on his hands and on his sandaled feet. Someone from the congregation noticed him and called out, " What happened to you? " The Visitor Replied ..................... " I Took Your Place " ......................... " The Water " It was one of the hottest days of the dry season. We had not seen rain in almost a month. The crops were dying. Cows had stopped giving milk. The creeks and streams were long gone back into the earth. It was a dry season that would bankrupt several farmers before it was through. Each day,my husband and his brothers would go about the process of trying to get water to the fields. Lately this process had involved taking a truck to the local water plant and filling it up with water. But rationing had cut everyone off.If we didn't see some rain soon would lose everything, It was on this day that I learned the true lesson of sharing and really witness the only miracle I have seen with my own eyes. I was in the kitchen making lunch for my husband and his brothers when I saw my six year old son,Billy, walking toward the woods. He wasn't walking with the usual carefree abandon of a youth but with a serious purpose. I could only see his back. He was obviously walking with a great effort trying to be as still as possible.Minutes after he disappeared into the woods, he came running out again, toward the house.I went back to making sandwiches; thinking that whatever task he had been doing was completed. Moments later, however, he was once again walking in that slow stride toward the woods. This activity went on for an hour: walk carefully to the woods, run back to the house. Finally I couldn't take it any longer and I crept out of the house and followed him on his journey (being very careful not to be seen...as he was obviously doing important work and didn't need his Mommy checking up on him).He was cupping both hands in front of him as he walked; being very careful not to spill the water he held in them...maybe two or three tablespoons were held in his tiny hands. I sneaked close as he went into the woods.Branches and thorns slapped his little face but he did not try to avoid them.He had a much higher purpose. As I leaned in to spy on him, I saw the most amazing site. Several large deer loomed in front of him. Billy walked right up to them. I almost screamed for him to get away. A huge buck with elaborate antlers was dangerously close. But the buck did not threaten him...he didn't even move as Billy knelt down. And I saw a tiny fawn laying on the ground, suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion, lift its head with great effort to lap up the water cupped in my beautiful boy's hand. When the water was gone, Billy jumped up to run back to the house and I hid behind a tree.I followed him back to the house; to a spigot that we had shut off the water to.Billy opened it all the way up and a small trickle began to creep out. He knelt there, letting the drip slowly fill up his makeshift "cup", as the sun beat down on his little back. And it came clear to me. The trouble he had gotten into for playing with the hose the week before. The lecture he had received about the importance of not wasting water. The reason he didn't ask me to help him. It took almost twenty minutes for the drops to fill his hands. When he stood up and began the trek back,I was there in front of him.His little eyes just filled with tears. "I'm not wasting", was all he said.As he began his walk, I joined him...with a small pot of water from the kitchen. I let him tend to the fawn.I stayed away.It was his job.I stood on the edge of the woods watching the most beautiful heart I have ever known working so hard to save another life. As the tears that rolled down my face began to hit the ground, they were suddenly joined by other drops...and more drops...and more. I looked up at the sky. It was as if God, himself, was weeping with pride. Some will probably say that this was all just a huge coincidence and that miracles don't really exist. That it was bound to rain sometime. And I can't argue with that...I'm not going to try. All I can say is that the rain that came that day saved our farm...just like that actions of one little boy saved another.I don't know if anyone will read this...but I had to send it out to honor the memory of my beautiful Billy, who was taken from me much too soon.... But not before showing me the True face of God, in a little sunburned body. Author Unknown Submitted By: Becky Milles
" THE APPLE " At the University of Chicago Divinity School each year they have what is called "Baptist Day." It is a day when all the Baptists in the area are invited to the school because..... they want the Baptist dollars to keep coming in. On this day each one is to bring a lunch to be eaten outdoors in a grassy picnic area. Every "Baptist Day" the school would invite one of the greatest minds to lecture in the theological education center. One year they invited Dr. Paul Tillich... Dr. Tillich spoke for two and one-half hours proving that the resurrection of Jesus was false.......He quoted scholar after scholar and book after book.He concluded that since there was no such thing as the historical resurrection, the religious tradition of the church was groundless, emotional mumbo-jumbo, because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus, who, in fact, never rose from the dead in any literal sense. He then asked if there were any questions. After about 30 seconds, an old, dark skinned preacher with a head of short-cropped, woolly white hair stood up in the back of the auditorium. "Docta Tillich, I got one question," he said as all eyes turned toward him.He reached into his sack lunch and pulled out an apple and began eating it."Docta Tillich .....CRUNCH, MUNCH.....my question is a simple question......CRUNCH, CRUNCH......Now, I ain't never read them books you read...CRUNCH, MUNCH...and I can't recite the Scriptures in the original Greek...CRUNCH, MUNCH...I don't know nothin' about Niebuhr and Heidegger."...CRUNCH, MUNCH...He finished the apple. "All I wanna know is: This apple I just ate,------ was it bitter or sweet?" Dr. Tillich paused for a moment..... and answered in exemplary scholarly fashion:"...I cannot possibly answer that question, for I haven't tasted your apple....." The white-haired preacher dropped the core of his apple into his crumpled paper bag, looked up at Dr. Tillich and said calmly, "Neither have you tasted my Jesus." The 1,000 plus in attendance could not contain themselves. The auditorium erupted with applause and cheers. Have you tasted Jesus? He has risen...and He's coming back one day! O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." (Psalm 34:8) Submitted By: Melanie Restrepo
