Who are we? Tennell's, Tennille's, or Tinnell's? The family name now exists in numerous spellings. It is possible that it began as the French Tennille, and later became Anglicized as the clan moved into the English speaking countries, of Scotland, Great Britain, and the Isle of Man. No matter the differences in spelling, most of the Tennell's, Tennille's, and Tinnell's of North America are of the same origins.
At the time of this writing, many of the relationships are missing or unproved. Knowledge of ancestors stops suddenly and abruptly for some -- far short of satisfaction. And so, we continue the search for the ancestral relationships, and family histories.
