Nancy Staleys nieces husband, Tim, had another surgery last week. The doctor removed the pins and rods from his ankle that he shattered - actually the ankle was like sawdust we were told. They tried to reconstruct it and ended up doing what they could. Now his foot is in a splint with Ace bandage around it. His other foot, and shoulder will heal on their own but he will be doing Physical Therapy down the road for them. The focus is on his ankle to get better. And further down the road he may have to have an ankle replacement done.

His daughter Heidi writes As everyone pieces the story together it sounds like the way Dad handled the crash, he did the perfect thing and actually saved three lives (both of theirs and the guy on the side of the road who was just dropped off by the bus). As we think about all of the details we are continually in awe at God's protection and every one's power of prayer! I mean he had just filled up the gas tank... and the motorcycle slid at 60 mph and didn't blow up... if they had been in the MG mom couldn't have slid under the bus... it goes on and on...We even ended up in probably one of the best hospitals.

Melissa Ross emailed stating: I come with requests for prayers. As you all know, I have a metastatic tumor on each adrenal gland. They are growing, and chemotherapy doesn't seem to be helping much. After going to the University of MD Medical Center, the breast cancer medical oncologist presented my case to the tumor board. I am learning that having the metastasis on both adrenal glands is rare and "unique", something you never want to be in the field of medicine. The oncologist called on Friday ... he feels that I am a good candidate for removal of both adrenal glands, since I don't have tumors anywhere else at this time. My oncologist just doesn't know if I should do the surgery, as it may be difficult to live without my adrenal glands and the regulating hormones that they provide. I would work with an endocrinologist to provide me with replacement therapy ( medications-hormones ) for the rest of my life. I truly don't know what to do. I am signed up for the surgery for Monday, August 11. I just don't feel at peace with it yet. So much has happened in just a few short days. I want to have the best quality of life for as long as I have left to live. I'm not so afraid of dying, but I am quite fearful of the path to get there!! Please pray for guidance as we pray, research, meet with other doctors , etc. to come to a decision that is the right one for me. I thank you all. My faith is strong and I will find the answer and the peace, in God's perfect timing.

Pastor Linda phoned from Duke. Franki Sechler's surgery was scheduled earlier today than thought. At 2:55 p.m. Frankie was out of surgery and everything to that point had gone well.

Praise note: Melissa Richardson writes daughter Abi's specialist at Children's just called to say he'd reviewed her bloodwork (after the latest round of re-immunizations) and the findings were completely normal! We will need to re-check after six months to ensure that the levels have maintained, but from an immunology standpoint she should be OK. He did recommend, however, she not travel internationally any time soon. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We are very fortunate to have such wonderful support.

Another praise note. This one from Andrea Craig: Praise God, Jane Sutphin's cancer has been successfully removed. Please continue to pray as she faces a month of recuperation and then chemotherapy and radiation. We are so blessed to live in close proximity to well trained doctors and I am blessed to have such a good friend and a supportive church. Thank you for your prayers.

Luckily it appears that the growth has not spread, but we will not know for sure until after surgery. Jane's weaken condition makes the surgery more risky. Pray for Evelyn Inmon, who went to FMH emergency room yesterday with chest pain on her right side. They kept her overnight for observation. They checked out her heart but they don't think it was a heart attack although she has a recent history of extra heartbeats. They believe it was possible that she just twisted something, but they did an MRI and another series of x-rays before they released her this afternoon.

Gary Hicks went to the emergency room Friday morning with heartburn. They checked him out and all was ok. They gave him some meds and he ended up having a severe reaction. He is all swollen and itching. They told him it would be a couple days until he feels better. Please pray for healing.

Franki Sechlers grandmother, Florence Brandenburg, was transferred from FMH on 6/16 to a nursing home. Since 6/18 she has been in excruciating pain. After several wrong x-rays and negligence from Dr and nursing home, the family had her transported to FMH last night. She has had a badly bruised hip since 6/18. Update from Katy Mossburg regarding her friend: Sue Metz had to have an emergency biopsy on Sunday, because the tumor was so big, she couldn't breathe. She has chest cancer, outside of the lungs, and it is stage 3. While there is no cure, the doctors are hopeful that with chemo, Sue can have a good 2 or 3 years. FROM SHARLEEN STALEY: I would like to request prayers for our family, as we received tragic news this morning. My sister-in-law (and a member of Brook Hill) suddenly died. She was on her way home and flipped her car and was dead at the scene of the accident. As of now, they think it was probably a medical instance that caused her to run off the road. Needless to say we are all very shocked. Her name is Sandra Reckley. Please pray for her mother, Margaret Staley, her son and daughter, her grandchildren, my former husband, Glen, and my girls who have lost a very special aunt and myself, who has lost a very special sister. We will need all of God's grace, strength, and peace during these next difficult days.

In light of all the requests we've had yesterday and today, I thought I'd pass something along that I read in Guideposts magazine that hit a chord with me. The author said "Maybe my job is to listen. Not to take on others' troubles but to pass them on to the Lord, relay them up the line. I know that God will comfort those people as only he can. .....Listening doesn't feel like a burden anymore. It feels like a privilege - even a blessing." I thank you all for being a blessing to our church family and their friends and family.
