Ever since I was a little girl all I dreamed of was finding the right man..settling down with the love of my life..and raising a family...I guess in the beginning all couples are full of love and hope..happiness and joy..and when our children come there is nothing could have brought me more happiness..my first born was Kelly Rose..born June 2nd, 1977...and this is her story.
In the first years of her life everything seemed perfect..my second child was born..Kenneth Frantisek Jr..June 25th 1979..then my third in December 1 of 1982..I suffered a miscarriage earlier in year..though its painful at the time..I would not have had Christopher Steven if it had not of been.
Though only the first two years of my marriage was what now I see as good marriage wise...the kids were all wonderful..I was so close to them all..played sports with them..helped coached baseball teams of both my sons..was a hockey mom..getting up early for practise..and to their games...went on the school trips with all three of them..now I getting off the subject though..cuz this website is to be in memory of Kelly..though I love all three of my children
My daughter was always so full of love..caring..kindness..and thoughtfulness...if I could have asked God to give me one..I would have asked for one just like Kelly....She always made me so proud..she helped teachers with younger students..she always had good grades..helped classmates..older people...and so on.
When she was five and started school..she had a bit of a bladder infection..she went for tests..but she was fine..each year though she would get a rash on her body after that..in the summer..sometimes in spring..the doctors said it was poisen ivy..had medication for her face and pills for the itchiness.
It wasn't till she was 11..I remember I could see a difference in her..she was in grade 6 at the time...first it was lose of weight but then she was growing up..so I tried not to worry..In December though she had other symptoms..such as purperic rash..trouble with joints..bloody nose..she had a limp..when taken to doctor he said I was being over reactive..since at that same time her best friend was diagnosed with leukemia..a few days later when things were not getting better..I took her back and demanded blood tests..he sent some away..then next day the hotel dieu hospital in Kingston phoned him saying send her in..they wanted to run tests..her blood cells were low.
It was in that time that Kelly was diagnosed with lupus..she stayed in hospital for about a week...they thought they had it under control..since there is no cure for lupus..but two weeks after she came home she suffered a seizure..and was rushed back to hospital..that was the beginning of her three year fight for her life..till her body could take no more....In those three years she had many blood transfusions..leg braces to straighten out the damage both the disease and the medication did to her body...another seizure..rashes..problems with the heart..and her kidneys shutting down on her.
When kidneys shut down and your potasium level gets so high..your heart can stop..she needed dialysis then and possibly a kidney transplant if a match could be made...Kelly was on the type of dialysis were I would take her to hospital three times a week..she would get hooked up to a machine..that would filter out her blood..I remember how hard it was to watch her on that machine..seeing her blood out in these tubes..imagining all sorts of things that could happen..after many months she was operated on and given a machine to do home dialysis..it is alot different..done nightly when she was asleep...though when the cycles would come on at night..it would wake her up..this fluid stuff was deposited in her belly all day..which took poisens out of her system...then before she went to bed..hooked back to machine..and it drained the fluid and in total of four times a night..took fluid out and added more.
Kelly never complained bout her illness..Kelly always had a smile on her face...she was a joy to have as a child.
