Bunko

Loser Lisa Linville was finally de-throned at our last Bunko game. She fought hard to retain her title, but eventually lost it to Pam Green. Our overall winner was Susie Dowling, who needs the money to offset the cost of her new home.   WHEN'S the Housewarming Party?

No one was a loser at Lisa’s...she provided tons of food, entertainment, and a special gift for all who attended…

"Give me a sentence about a public servant," said a teacher. The small boy wrote: "The fireman came down the ladder pregnant." The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. "Don't you know what pregnant means?" she asked. "Sure," said the young boy confidently. "Means carrying a child."

A nursery school teacher was delivering a station wagon full of kids home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties. "They use him to keep crowds back," said one youngster. "No," said another, "he's just for good luck." A third child brought the argument to a close. "They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrant."

Fund Raising

FUNDS  are DWINDLING rapidly and we need your help to replenish them. At the April meeting, we will be selecting a fundraiser for the month of May. Your support will be vital to the success of this project.

To date, our organization has been able to …

     Provide a basket for the Healthy Kids’  Day

     Send relief funds to New York’s 9 11

      Support families for Thanksgiving and Christmas

      Adopt Senior Citizens for Christmas

      Host the Fall Fun Day at the West Academy Gym

      Sponsor the YFDLA Scholarship Fund

      Purchase Savings Bonds for newborns

      Present special gifts to the Secretaries

We can do this and much more, providing we have the available funds. Please continue to help support us in the month of May by taking on some small task.

Information on the fundraiser selected at our April Meeting will be in your mailbox by Tax Day (and we all know what day that is)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  Congratulations to  Battalion Chief Rod Reed and his wife Magen, on the early morning arrival of their new son, Aaron Matthew Reed. Born on Sunday, March 24th at  5:00 a.m. and weighing in at 9lbs., 4oz.

Sun Dodging!

It’s almost time for the Sun Dodgers to start making their plans to beat the heat...Activities will be rapidly changing. Softball season is firing up, spring break is around the corner and some vacation plans are already in the works.

       (kids home all day long for the summer)

YFDLA historically has fizzled out with the approaching heat and then sparks up again by September with a full plate of activities.

In the  next couple of months we need to identify anyone willing and able to help  organize  future involvement with the Midnight at the Oasis, Yuma County Fair and other community events. If you have insider information, please contact one of the board members as soon as possible.

Easter Bunnies...

Thanks goes to the YFDLA Members who were able to participate in the Easter Basket assembly line held on March 27th. Sorry for the short notice, but we just found out on Monday. Anyone wishing to be added to our e-mail address book should contact Cathy at FDPADDOC@AOL.COM.  This method works well for reminders and notification of special events and projects.
