What a great success!

Wow! What a great job everyone did on December 11th, at YFD Station #2. Hundreds of rolled taco orders were filled. Instructional aid was provided by Lucy Padilla and Manuela Ozuna. Which side goes up??

Thanks goes to our support services provided by Hank Green, Daniel Padilla, Tyler Green, and Chrissy Padilla. They kept us moving with a fresh supply of meat, warm tortillas and a well deserved snack.

Special thanks goes to Lori Allen, Deanna, and Heather for bagging and tagging.

There were a couple of new members (Valerie Bird, Tami Smith and Linda Reyes) who joined our current members (Cheri Allen, Gale Fisher, Pam Green, Lynn Light, Julie Ott, Debbie Tutell, Angela Jaynes and C. J. Padilla) in the festivities.

Honorable mention goes to Chief Fisher, who arrived just in time to man the broom. Where's the camera when you need it?!

So many people were involved with taking, filling, and delivering the orders. Thanks to all of their efforts, we now have the funds available to help sponsor a needy family of seven for the Christmas Holidays.

Our final and biggest thanks goes to the crew of YFD Station #2 (Captain Brett Van Fleet, Don Walton, Kevin Early, and Pat Estrada) for opening up their home to us. During the winter months especially, that may be the only time the crew gets a chance to sit down and catch their breath. The station was anything but quiet... with cackling women, crying babies, and some energetic little ones thrown into the mix. We hope it was the only excitement you had that night!

Thanks again!!!

Next YFDLA Meeting

The next YFDLA meeting is Wednesday, January 10th, 2001, to be held at YFD Station #1 at 7:00pm.

We need your input on some new projects!!!

Wanted... Homemade Goodies a Must

This is the second annual goody basket brigade. Last year a large group of people (young and old) met at Amanda Stoermer's house to assemble a wonderful assortment of goodies. After the baskets were filled, decorated, and sealed, they were delivered to all of the personnel in communications and operations for the New Year.

This year's event will be held at the home of C. J. Padilla on Saturday December 30th at 6:30pm. Lots of stuff for everyone to do. If cooking is not your forte, perhaps assembling and decorating is. All are welcome, so invite your family, friends, members and non-members. Playground, playroom and movies will be available for kids of all ages.

2107 E. 27th Place
Phone # 726-4432

The house is located at the end of the cul-de-sac. just look for the hanging angel. Limited parking available, so pick-up a friend or two and carpool to the festivities.

If you have any of the following supplies laying around your home after the holidays, please feel free to bring them: tape, ribbons, baskets, cellophane, platters. Unfortunately, some baskets were not returned last year, so only bring items you plan on never seeing again.

Food For Thought

At our next scheduled meeting on January 10th, we will be having a guest speaker from the BullFrogs team. The General Manager, Dave McDowell, will be at YFD Station #1 to tell us about a possible fundraiser.

We will have an opportunity to sell season passes with the YFDLA logo and profits are 50% of the sale. Dave's presentation is approximately 15 minutes long and will be the first thing on the agenda, from 7:00 til 7:15. Your input on this project is important - so please make every effort to attend. Before we decide to take on this or any project, it's important to hear from all of our members.

Christmas Giving

Thanks to all who helped with the donated items for our Christmas Family of seven. Special Thanks goes to the Walmart Assistant Manager, Virginia, for their donation of a $100.00 Gift Certificate. Between the proceeds from our taco sales, donated items and the generous gift certificate from Walmart, we were able to provide Christmas gifts for the whole family. Thanks Again!!

The YFDLA filled another Christmas wish at the Senior Residents Christmas Party. Three large print Christian Books were given to our adopted senior citizen, Glen, who resides at the Life Care Center.
