Minutes for the January 10th, 2001 Meeting

Members present: C.J. Padilla, Angela Jaynes, Valerie Bird, Lynn Light,
Cynthia Landin, Gale Fisher, Carla Waterford, Pam Green, Julie Ott, Cheri Allen

Guest Speaker: Dave McDowell, general manager of the Bullfrogs Baseball Team gave a brief presentation of a potential fundraiser. YFDLA can sell season tickets at various events for the price of $30.00. Each booklet contains 15 general admission tickets
at $4.00 per ticket, a value of $60.00. YFDLA would profit 50% per pass sold and the $15.00, which YFDLA receives, is considered a tax deduction for anyone who purchases the season passes.

Meeting called to order at 7:25 p.m.

OLD BUSINESS

Safe House- It was discussed and decided anyone wishing to donate items to
the Safe House can do so by dropping the items off at the Catholic Community Services. Cynthia Landin will gather additional information in regards to specific needs the Safe
House may have.

Christmas Family- All the items purchased and those donated were delivered to the family prior to Christmas. Julie Ott received additional donations of baby equipment which she delivered later that same week.

Adopted Senior- Our senior resident at the Life Care Center received three large print Christian Books, which Gale Fisher delivered just prior to the facilities Christmas Party.

Fundraisers- It was decided the Pizza Take-Over, tentatively scheduled for the beginning of this year, would be tabled long term as we are looking into more lucrative ventures.

The decision was made to go forth with the Bullfrogs Season passes. It was further decided that C.J. Padilla and Cheri Allen would be responsible for policing the distribution of booklets and the collection of funds. A log is to be designed and utilized
in order to accomplish this task. YFDLA will place an initial order of 150 passes to be sold by any member wishing to participate in this program.

Christmas Bikes- None of the bicycles collected from YPD were deemed ready and in good working order for distribution during the holidays. Work is to continue on the bikes to ensure their safety and the bikes are to be distributed at a later date. Pam Green has volunteered to make contact with Jim Miller in an attempt to procure helmets for all bicycle recipients.

New Year's Baskets- YFDLA gathered at C.J. Padilla's home to assemble the baskets for our Second Annual Goodie Baskets. Fifteen baskets were filled with goodies (cookies, candy, fruit, hand baked treats) sealed, and distributed to all YFD Stations and Communications. Volunteers delivered half of the baskets on New Year's Eve, while the other half was delivered on New Year's Day.

NEW BUSINESS

Fire Muster- This year's event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24th and Lee Stoermer has approached us about helping again this year with the concession stand. A motion was made and passed to man the booth. We were also asked to assist with the mini muster,
but declined as the majority feels the children would be more receptive to Firemen or Co-ops with this activity. Carla Waterford volunteered to man another booth during the Fire
Muster to sell the Bullfrog Season passes. A log is to be generated before the next meeting for members to sign-up for both booths.

Saint Patrick's Day- A block party is scheduled for the weekend of March 17th and there was much discussion of operating two booths during that event. One booth would be to sell corn beef and cabbage as a fundraiser and the second one would be for the sale of the Bullfrogs Season Passes.

A letter is to be sent to Cynthia Landin at KTTI to advertise our involvement in this and the muster. Angela Jaynes will look into making arrangements with the City of Yuma for the booths. Gale Fisher has volunteered to do any radio announcements should that be necessary.

Candy Flowers- There was some discussion on making candy flowers as a fundraiser for Valentine's Day. Everyone agreed there were too many projects in progress and that the making of the candy flowers would be better done for Mother's Day. Assembly can be accomplished during one of our scheduled meetings, and the flowers could be distributed to one of our local nursing homes.

YFDLA Shirts- Shirts are still available and may be purchased from Carla Waterford for $6.50 each.

Treasure's Report- Cheri says monies are still coming in from our taco sales and that our account has a current balance of $476.58. Profits from the taco sales was $430.00
