Tis the Season to Give

YFDLA is sponsoring a family of six for Christmas. Below is the list of ages, sizes and needs (wishes). If you, or someone you know, wishes to donate any items, contact C. J. Padilla at 726-4432. Please help us play Santa this season.

The grandmother is the sole support for a

1. Boy 7 years old size 7-8
2. Girl 9 years old size 14
3. Girl 10 years old size 14
4. Boy 15 years old size XL
5. Girl 16 years old size L

All the children need coats and clothes. The girls like hair things and Brittney Spears. The grandmother, age 55, is asking only for things for the kids. Santa's lit' helper says she needs a set of pots and pans.

You know what they need... so let me add a small list of their wants...

1. Is an average boy who like everything.
2. Needs help with her reading skills and wants a program called leap frog reader.
3. Would like a small portable stereo.
4. A bicicle and some shoes - size 9 1/2.
5. Needs a warm-up suit or sweat suit. She is expecting to give birth on Dec 20th to a baby boy. She desperately needs diapers and warm blankets for the baby. If anyone can spare anything at all, please let me or one of the board members know. We need everything gathered up by December 18th. Thanks again!

Bikes for the Holidays

YFDLA received four bicycles from YPD to be used for the holidays. TFFA Local 1234 has offered to assist with any repairs needed to ensure the bicycles are safe before giving them to needy children for Christmas. Anyone who wishes to volunteer their time, elbow grease, and a little paint to make them pretty, please contact one of the board members ASAP.

Tired of Turkey?

Order some rolled tacos... $4.00/dozen. On sale now until December 6th. Flyers posted at all YFD stations or contact one of the board members for more info.

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations goes to Jeff and Valerie Bird... with the new arrival of a bouncing baby boy born on Oct 19th. Alexander Christian Bird weighed in at 6lbs 11oz.

Charlie and Tami Smith are celebrating the newest addition to their family - a beuatiful baby girl. Born on Tuesday, November 15th and weighing in at a whopping 9lbs 13oz. Welcome Ema Rae Smith!

Help Wanted...

Next YFDLA meeting is on Monday, December 11th at Station #2. Our time will be spent socializing and rolling tacos. Proceeds from the taco sale will be used to defray expenses incurred with the sponsoring of families for the holidays. Lots of help needed to talk and roll... the more the merrier!!!

Winter Pot Luck

Welcoming all YFD employees and their families... The Pot Luck Lunch is to be held at Station 1 on Friday, December 8th. Festivities will begin at 11:00 am and end at 1:00 pm. Main course provided, so just whip up a salad, side dish, or a dessert and come join us.

Thanks to Everyone Who Helped and Donated Items

On Thanksgiving Day, a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 chilren ranging in ages from 2 months to 8 years) received a Thanksgiving Feast. Thanks goes to Pam Green, Angela Jaynes and Cheri Allen for delivering the meal on that special day. Thanks also goes to those who prepared homemade treats, donated formula and milk for the little ones.

Lots of Stuff Going on

Angela Jaynes with the help of Matt Orndorff came to the rescue of the Bird family on Thursday, October 19th. They both got a little taste of childcare. So how was it?

Thanks to all the people who gave their afternoon to decorate for the Centennial Dinner/Dance held on October 21st. The hall looked absolutely beautiful. The CD "Centennial Moments" is available and may be purchased for $10.00. Daniel Padilla did a great job on it!! Contact Marty for your copy.

On Tuesday October 24th, Pam Green and Gale Fisher were to spend their evening reading at one of our local schools. It was a pilot program to promote reading to parents and their children. However, the turn-out was poor and the ladies did a lot of waiting, but no reading. Better luck next time... at Barnes & Noble!

On Saturday, November 4th, Barbie Van Fleet hosted a surprise baby shower for Tami Smith. Lot's of people attended and everyone had tons of fun, including the kids. Thanks for opening your home and for the great vittles.
