My Trip
to the
R&M Yarn Sale

Phyllis and Indian Lady
share a hug

Inside the R&M Warehouse. The doors opened at 5 a.m., and there were about 100 people waiting in line by then.

R&M Yarns, located in Georgia, has a huge sale every June. last year a bunch of cyber-friends decided to meet there. It was a chance to buy bunches of yarn at a terrific price, but it was also an opportunity to meet these friends in person. I decided to make the 10 hour trip alone, and finally arrived at the hotel around 10 p.m. the night before the big sale. The hotel clerk just looked at me strangely when I confirmed that I was "one of them", and then I met up with Phyl, Dana, and Lori outside. Dana took one look at me, asked me who I was, and then proceeded to give me a big hug. This was the way of the weekend. It was a time of laughter, friendship, and sharing. Within a few minutes of meeting "face to face", most of us felt as if we'd known each other forever.

Lunch at the Cracker Barrel. There were 20-30 of us, many meeting face to face for the first time!
