Tim Burton

A loner...A rebel

This page is really about Tim and his movies with a few notes thrown in on
his longtime friend Danny Elfman and some of the stars of his Movies.
My favorite movie of Tim's by far is The Nightmare Before Christmas.
I really identify with the character of Jack. He is a loner like so many
of the stars of Tim's movies. I was totally overwhelmed the first time I
saw The Nightmare before Christmas, and I've never been sane since!
One of the things that I love about Tim is his
beautiful use of German Expressionism. It always adds a frightening edge to all of his work.
I think that the use of German Expressionism helps the viewers feel that they have been
transported to another world. In Tim's world a little boy
can bring a dog back to life, a nerd becomes a hero,
a ghostly afterlife brings a funny fiend, a bat saves the city,
a boy can have scissors for hands, and a place called
Halloween Town does exist among many other wonders.
I'm just getting started here and I plan to include links to sites on each of
Tim's Movies and books.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite movies. It deals with the trials of Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King. Jack tires of the yearly hussle and bussle of putting together the Halloween Celebration and he longs for something more. He is wondering through the forest when he happens upon a strang set of Holiday trees. The tree he chooses leads him into Christmas town. Jack decides that Christmas will be his holiday. The movie follows just how Jack tries to take over Christmas with disasterous results. The movie is charming and has an excellent story line. The message here is the same as many of Tim's movies: "Be who you are!" We all have our designated paths and we must follow them no matter what we do.

So far I like the looks of Sleepy Hollow. I've seen the movie several times now and I like it. Lisa Marie is so lovely in it. Christopher Walkins is as scary as ever.
