THE JOHNSON JOURNALS

WELCOME TO THE JOHNSON JOURNALS ONLINE!

Our family was "founded" on 26 September 1997, when Daryl & I were sealed in the San Diego temple for time & all eternity. We each brought many things into the relationship: knowledge, life experience, love, friendship...and I brought a little boy named Christopher from a brief first marriage. We live in northern Virginia and are active members in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In our ward, Daryl serves as the 11-year old Scout leader and I am the Primary secretary. In addition, I am also the current webmaster for our ward webpage. Daryl was brought up in the church, from a very young age and served a mission in Detroit, Michigan. I converted to the church as an adult, and was baptized in June 1996.

Daryl works as a government analyst and I am a VERY part-time registered nurse, but will soon be a full-time stay at home mom. Chris will be entering the second grade in the fall of 2000 and is absolutely thrilled! Our twins, Matthew and Meghan, are busy growing and being cherished. What a hard life they have! :-)

Our family enjoys being together. We like to play games (I am best at word games but we break even when we play Yahtzee! Bless his heart, Daryl is even trying to teach me to play chess, since I haven't played in years). Daryl & Chris love to go on walks together and work in the yard as a team. Daryl is definitely an outdoor guy, while I prefer to sit next to a sunny window and read a book. They have bonded so well that I sometimes feel left out! Daryl truly is "Daddy" in every sense of the word! We also go on frequent road trips, into neighboring towns or into Pennsylvania to visit family. In the summer of 1999, we visited Niagra Falls on the Canadian side (gorgeous!) and went to New York to visit family and see the Hill Cumorah Pageant.

Daryl loves the Pittsburgh Steelers and goaded me into signing up for a fantasy football team this past season (1999)...which ended up in second place! Too bad we can't say the same for the Dolphins. Sigh... :-) I am staying out of the fantasy leagues this time around, but my honey is looking forward to a championship season! Daryl is athletic and very analytical. He tells great stories that keep me giggling...and his singing is terrific and very much appreciated by the twins, especially when they are cranky. Daryl is my knight in shining armor. Christopher, like me, is left-handed. He is a wonderful child with an even temperament. He is smart and loves to build things. He is also very artistic...my little creator! He is musical, with a sweet singing voice. He will honor ANY request, but prefers a few of his Primary tunes above all others. He is sociable and friendly, and considers Garrett, a neighbor, to be his "bestest friend ever". This past year, he has become an excellent reader. While I do not homeschool him, we do spend time learning and studying things. Right now, he wants to be an astronaut when he grows up, but last week, he wanted to be a doctor, so who knows? As for me, I love scrapbooking, rubber stamping and reading. I collect Precious Moments & Longaberger baskets (and books!) I am also really getting into webpage creation, if you couldn't tell. :-) In other recent news, I have reunited with my birth family after an almost 30 year separation and have written about the reunion. I have established a wonderful relationship with my sister, which is one of the main reasons I went on the journey of discovery. Life is pretty terrific and we are a very blessed family.

We are hoping that this webpage will serve as an introduction to our family and a way to keep in touch with members of both of our families near and far. There will be pictures, news & announcements, so if you want to stay "in the know" you'll have to keep visiting for the updates!

News & Announcements
After an induction at 36 1/2 weeks pregnant (and a last minute C-section, we were pleased to announce the birth of our twins. Matthew Aaron arrived into the world on July 12, 2000 at 9:22pm (and at a whopping 7 lbs 2 oz) and was followed a minute later by his sister, Meghan Elisabeth (who weighed in at 6 lbs 6 oz). Both babies continue to be healthy and are beautiful and very loving and gentle. Mommy is recovering nicely and Daddy and big brother Christopher are thrilled to have such sweet spirits in our home.
