Welcome to Calvin's The International School of Geneva
As I mentioned on a previous page, I teach Senior School mathematics here at La Grande Boissiere (LGB), a campus of Ecolint (the commonly used shortform of the French version of the School's name. It does not, as some RCS wag indicated, mean enviromentally friendly dryer fluff!)

As well as being a maths teacher, I am also the assistant in the small boarding house the School has... 16 students from all over the world.

LGB is located just a ten minute walk from downtown Geneva on Route de Chene. The campus began by using an old chalet and has since expanded with several modern buildings, including the Saleve, where the maths are taught. My residence is in La Grande Batiment, part of the original chalet, on the top floor. I shall attempt to provide a map.

I have also decreased the size of the smaller pictures, and made the larger ones fit in a 800x600 window.

This is not the official site of the School. To go there, click here.

The first picture of the school is of the front gates, from the original chalet. Front gates to LGBYou will also notice a periphery fence (the School extends beyond the original chalet's area) and a large (and ugly) pink apartment building that does not belong to the School. There is also a small car on the left... this was a Saturday before term and we are regularly visited by a security firm - they are quite intent on their job and Canadian humour is not effective with them. I am taking this picture from the inside courtyard, to my right is La Grand Batiment and my apartment.

Grand BatimentSo, if I turn right (and back up quite a bit) this is La Grand Batiment. The first two floors are classrooms for socials and languages, the next floor is the library and the top floor is the boarding house. My bedroom window is the first to the left of the red window.

Greek TheatreIf I keep backing up, I fall down a small slope. I avoid this by turning around and walking down the path! Within a few steps, I come across the Greek Theatre. While they do have a proper, indoor theatre, the Greek Theatre is used for assemblies on good days and as a gathering place in case of fire drill. It is surrounded by trees and is a very relaxing place to take a Coke, your laptop & work, and your dog (well, not your dog because dogs aren't allowed on campus). The trees are a mixture of deciduous and coniferous, very similar to Southern Ontario but a larger variety.

ChateauCompletely out of order, if I run back the way I came and through the gates, and turn left, I see the Chateau. This is the administration building for this campus and is where the Principal, Mr. John Douglas, has his office. (The administration for all campus is also at LGB, but I don't have a photo yet.) This picture was taken from my window on a weekend, otherwise the parking lot would be full. Notice the shutters on some of the windows... every window in Geneva has shutters of some kind or another and they are almost always shut, too.
