I was adopted sometime around 1966 in Columbus, Indiana, and was told that I had been born out of wedlock, was unwanted, and therefore lucky to have someone who would take me in. In 1978, my adoptive parents accused me of attempted arson and other false
harges, had me arrested and placed in the local children’s home. They began, but did not complete unadoption proceedures.
I was rescued from the children’s home by Tom and Judy Casten, who had been neighbors in Indiana but moved to NY. I lived with them through high school, went on to college and on. While I maintained a relationship of sorts with my adoptive mother, she n
ver provided any support or initiated any conversation.
In 1994, I visited a social security office, and using my social security number, a woman found records that my parents had died apparently on the same day (accident?). Death benefits had been paid in my name for years, through the time I lived with Caste
’s in NY and during college. Apparently my adoptive mother cashed all of the checks and sustained the lie about my birth to keep me from finding out. The impression I got was that my parents name showed up on the screen. The woman turned the screen, wou
d not let me see, and I struck out.
For many reasons, I would like to find out about my parents, their name, and if I have any siblings. Can you help? Specific help could include:

How can I compel the Lutherwood Adoption Agency in Indianapolis, Indiana to open my records and tell me all?
