A Dog For You Bringing a new dog home is always an exciting moment. At Black Rock, we share your excitement and high hopes for a long and very happy life together. That's why every Black Rock customer is carefully interviewed and asked to sign a purchase contract. We believe the interview helps to develop a lasting relationship between the breeder and the buyer. And the contract helps to clearly define both side's expectations. Black Rock dogs are typically available as either show dogs - meaning of a quality the breeder expects would finish a championship of record if exhibited, or as pets - meaning some conformational fault exists which the breeder feels precludes the animal's use as breeding stock. The conformational fault will not necessarily be as serious as a disqualifying fault per the Australian Shepherd standard. The Black Rock requirements for breeding quality minimizes the potential for producing disqualifying faults even in pet quality dogs. Black Rock dogs sold as pets, with a few exceptions, are sold with "limited registration" papers to both the AKC and ASCA registries. Full contracts are available on request. Following, however, is a synopsis of Black Rock expectations for customers.
