"WELCOME FRIENDS"

As Long As You Love Me

I brought in the New Year (98) with a chat friend at her home in sunny California. This is a picture of us taken while I was there.

A month later after returning to Seattle, Washington, I headed south again for Fort Collins, Colorado to take a software training course. I fell in love with that part of the country and had actually considered moving there.

Upon my return I met a wonderful man and of all places through the Internet. We chatted (somewhat, as people who know him know that he doesn't chat much lol) in the Yahoo Seattle
Chat Room
. We exchanged phone numbers and made a date to meet for dinner and then go to one of the chat room get togethers. We didn't hit it off at first, but he eventurally won me over. He invited me out for my birthday and had me laughing so hard my stomach hurt. We've been together ever since.

In April I accompanied him on a business trip to Reno. It was a last minute decision for me, so I flew down on a different flight and ended up waiting at the airport for 3 hours before he arrived as his plane was delayed. Now that must be love lol.

Our first night in Reno we were having dinner and got into a very deep conversation and the next thing I know he's proposing to me. Of course, I accepted. This is a picture of us the next night as we were waiting for a show to start, New York, New York.

Now the next few months were extremely busy as we prepared for our August 1st wedding. Everything just seemed to fall into place. Over the July 4th holiday I flew back to California to help one of my attendants find a dress and we were successful (thank goodness). We were able to find something the first day. I don't know what I would have done if we couldn't find a dress for her. Everything else was set.

We planned an outdoor wedding and even the weather was on our side. We couldn't have asked for a better day. We got married at the beach where we also had the reception. There was a great turnout and we partied into the night, sticking around for the sunset. It was beautiful.

Now, both of us being previously married and each having children from those marriages were not prepared for bringing these two families together. I have a son age 20 and a daughter age 19 and he has two sons ages 22 and 16. OK...no problem. Their all pretty much grown up...Wrong! At one point we had all but one living with us and what a disaster that was. Now, I had previously lived alone for 3 years, so this was quit an adjustment for me. *grin* Here are pictures of all four.

Towards the end of August we took our honeymoon to San Diego, California and was it ever humid. We went to Sea World and saw Shamu, San Diego Zoo and drove one day to Disneyland. Lots to see and do in one week, but we had a wonderful time.

We were home for a little over a month and were off again. The beginning of October my husband had a conference in Orlando, Florida for a week. My daughter came with us and we had a wonderful time visiting all the amusement parks while my husband was in his meetings. Of course he would join us when he was finished for the day. We went to Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom, Wild Animal Kingdom, Epcot Center, MGM Studios,Universal Studios and also drove to Tampa Bay to Busch Gardens where we spent the day on the monster roller coasters. Now the humidity in San Diego didn't even come close to what we experienced in Orlando. There is so much to do that there is no way you could see it all in a week. We were exhausted and ready to go home. We had a blast though!

Now you would think after all this we would be done for the year...NOT! One of my husbands jobs is a Water Commissioner which requires a lot of traveling. They needed to get a bond rating, so...we're off to New York! Now this is a once in a life time opportunity, so of course I had to go. *smile*

We left the middle of November and stayed in Manhattan at the Essex House which is located right across the street from Central Park. Yes we took a horse and carriage ride and it was beautiful with all the fall colors. We got the royal treatment from limo rides to dinners each night at elegant restaurants, one of which was the "Rainbow Room" at Rockefeller Center. Here is a picture of us while there and the view out the window behind us was fabulous! This was a real treat, as it will be closing to the public January 1999 and will only be used for parties. We took a tour down to the "Statue of Liberty", walked up Wall Street and down through China Town. Then past the UN Building which was very interesting and of course we went to the Broadway shows "Titanic" and " Cats". Both were excelent!

Wow! Here we are and it's the end of "1998" and we have no more children at home! Yippee!!! Are you exhausted...? After all that, I am. *smile* We are busy getting ready for the holiday season and our first Christmas and New Years together. It's been a busy and exciting year and we are looking forward to an even better "1999". I hope your holidays are wonderful and safe and wish the best for everyone in "1999".
