The music you are listening to is "Material Girl"

   "PIXIE"

The mistress of the house.

{Meow Meow Meow Purrrrr}

Translation is....

"Dogs have Masters,
CATS have Staff"

In the July of 1996,we were given the keys to
the new house that we had just had built.
It was an exciting day for us,because all we
had done before, was to renervate older houses.
This house was built to our own design and had
everything one could ask for, except an animal
to keep our laps warm.

My wife Margaret, had become great friends with
the wife of the builder, and they had, over
the course of the building of our house, discussed
among other things,animals.

Some people might think me hard, but I was against
having an animal just at that time and
Margaret was talking hard for me to let her
have a kitten.

About a week after we had settled in,The builder,
his wife,their son and daughter-in-law,arrived
on our doorstep, with a bottle of wine in one hand
and two very small kittens in the other. They were the
fluffiest, wriggling bundles you could wish to see.
The builders son, who lives in Melbourne,{Australia}
had found them dumped on the side of the road,
and took them home.
They were identical in every way, but one had
a pink spot on its nose and the other had a black nose.

The one with the plain black nose took over the
house at once and started to investigate
every nook and cranney, not missing a thing.
The other one hid under the bed and would not
come out no matter how we tried to persuade her

Margaret wanted to keep them both, but being a hard
hearted person, I said that she could keep only one.

Needless to say,we still have the one that took over
the house and everyone in it and bosses
everybody around, including me.

We called her "Pixie".

Pixie is,without a doubt, one of the most friendly
moggs that you could find anywhere in the world.

When people call, she has to introduce herself to them
by jumping on their knees and saying hello.
If we have a party, she makes sure
that she knows who is there.

Her tail is the most prominent feature of her.
It is very fluffy and very wide. Everyone coments on it.

"Please don't drop me Les."

And now a word from Pixie!!!!

"This is me when I first took over running the house."

Hi... This is me,Pixie Freeburn.
Let me tell you a little of what my life
has been like since I moved in with my new staff.

"
A cats life is a tough one. Always not knowing
if you are going to get only four meals and not
five every day.

Around this house,I only manage around eighteen
hours sleep a day, and the people that I own,
have the cheek to wake me when 'they' think
that I should eat. I do wake up by myself, when
I hear a can or a cupboard being opened,
but I don't always get something.
The very nerve of them. All said and done,
I think I will stay with them tho'.
"
I have my own enterance to the house,
but the staff close it at about eight o'clock,
and I must be inside, otherwise they tend to worry
that I may be lost. (fat chance).

I am locked in the laundry every night,
and have my own bed in there.
It is all very comfortable, but I would
rather sleep on Mum and Dads bed.

When the days are cool,I like to lie in
Mum and Dads bedroom where it is nice and warm.
They put my blanket on their bed so that I
won't make their fancy bedspread dirty.

My Doctor (Vet) tells me that I am what
is known as a 'Maine Coon', and that I originated
from the State of Maine in the U.S.A
and I am quite valuable. I think that they
had better look after me. Don't you?

My favorite passtime is chasing birds.
I very rearly catch them, but when I do,
I like to take them in the house to show
Mum and Dad,but for some strange reason they
get very annoyed and try to take my snack off me.
You should hear Mum scream when I bring mice
inside the house, I only want to show her how
skilful I am. My favorite spot of a night,
is on someones lap. When I try to get on Mums lap,
I get a quick shift. That is because she is
always knitting. I love to chew the wool, and Mum
get crankey because the wool gets pretty soggy.
do get lots of cuddles from Mum though, and I realy
smooch her when she picks me up.

I can always count on being able to go to
sleep on Dads lap. He doesn't knit and we watch
a lot of sport in the summer. Dad likes the cricket.
I miss Les since he went to Canada. He hasn't sent me
a post card yet.Now there is only Mum, Dad and me here,
but I like my life here,my life of luxury.

Love PIXIE.
