First grade

In April, the school had a fun day, which included a 3/4-mile run for the kindergarten and first graders. Benjamin was in second place for almost all of the race, but with just a short distance until the finish line, one boy came up quickly behind, but Benjamin's "put on more power" and kept his position.

After the race, Benjamin held the finish tape for the races for the other grades. For his second-place finish, he received a ribbon and his name was read out over the school's intercom. He also received a medal for running in the race, which he wore all day.

Update: In the school's Fun Run held October 2001, Benjamin finished first in the K-2 race. There are no pictures of this race. I ran in the race and Benjamin had finished the race by the time I came puffing across the line.

Spaghetti is one on Benjamin's favorite foods. He's enjoying it here at a school dinner night.

His first grade teachers are Mrs. Snead and Mrs. Mertz. He says he likes them both.
