MEDICATIONS USED TRY AND CONTROL LP? :   D.J.'s case was severe. Steroids as well as antibiotics were given prior to surgery due to massive swelling. Weekend sedation at the animal emergency clinic saved her life though. She needed to be "knocked out" in order to rest and allow the swelling to g

We read as much as we could during that time, met with the specialist, and opted for the surgery. D.J.'s surgery was done through the mouth and a "flap" was removed

WAS LP CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED? :   One veterinarian diagnosed heart insufficiency. Since I was not convinced about this diagnosis, I consulted another veterinarian after a few weeks. This veterinarian diagnosed LP.
MEDICATIONS USED TRY AND CONTROL LP? :   Corticosteroids did improve the breathing for 2-3 weeks, since the larynx was also swallen.
WAS SURGERY PERFORMED? WHAT AGE? RESULTS? :   The surgery was performed with 12,5 years in the university clinic of Utrecht (Netherlands). Until now we are satisfied. The dog began to eat and to drink the next day after the surgery and the loud breathing disappeared.

WAS SURGERY PERFORMED? WHAT AGE? RESULTS? :   Yes. 11/2 Yrs. Initially a tie-back was performed - it failed within 4 days. A permanent trach was successfully performed. He recovered and lived another year. Euthanized because of inoperable tumor on his heart at age 12 yrs 7 months.

MEDICATIONS USED TRY AND CONTROL LP? :   Predisone, Enalapril, and Theophylline were what he was given before we knew he had LP. by the time LP was diagnosed he needed emergency surgery or he would suffocate.

MEDICATIONS USED TRY AND CONTROL LP? :   He is on pred, Enacard, Lasix and aspirin but not for LP - all for his general decline and he was diagnosed with a "bulging aorta" or aneursym. The docs think/thought the an. would kill him, I think the LP may kill him first.
