Sable was diagnosed with LP in October 1997. New York State's Adirondack Mountain's Fall and Winter weather helped to keep her panting very low key, until the warmer weather came in May and June of this year. Vetalog did not help. However, with the advice of LP Listers, we knew the time had come. Surgery went well with no complications and, after three weeks, her panting has almost ceased. The arytenoid cartilage does not move, so further surgery may be necessary at some time.

It is wonderful to see Sable run a bit with her head up and tail wagging. For the first time in a year, she has been able to eat without the heightened aide of a Rubbermaid stool, and she can play keep-away with her blanket and carry it about the house. What a clown!! Like other LP dogs, Sable's bark has turned into a light "throaty" sound; however, her kids, Tiger and Lily, can bark for her so that is OK.

Sable is very special to our daughter, as she was a canine nurse through two illnesses and did not leave her side until she was well. When Jeanne visits, it is a beautiful sight to see the look in Sable's eyes. Thank you LP Listers for your prayers, best wishes and advice. It would have been difficult to go through surgery without you. Here is the rose that you were promised. We pray for good health for you and your canines. God Bless.
