You have a beautiful site. I take comfort in looking at the other memorials. I am working on mine. It's a learn as you go project. I have a small one but it is not the one I am working on. I came home from work on the last day of my childrens school year, May 31, 2000 to find two of my children murdered in the most horrible way imaginable. The dedectives are still on the case. Dear Family of Keith's, My name is Christy and as usual I went to Heavenly Lights page, which is the page that was inspired and dedicated to my little 2 year old daughter, Jordyn Ashleigh who had AML also. I have only read Keith's story, but was in tears as I read the whole thing. Somedays I feel like I just can't cry anymore, but then I came here and the tears just came flowing. My heart is in constant pain and in great sadness everyday. Jordyn has been gone for 3 1/2 months and it feels like an eternity since I have held her in my arms, I can only imagine how your arms must feel. It sounds like he was loved so much, but it just isn't hard to love your child is it? Well, I just wanted to tell you that your son has touched my life. I remember Keith and I had shared a science class together his freshman year! He sat right to the left of me. And we began to talk a lot. I want to tell you that my heart bleeds for you,but it wouldn't help you.So I will tell you this.....my husband is 41,has had ALL for about 4 years (been in remission most of the time) and has returned to a seemingly normal life. He still has chronic pain ( all the things they never tell you about chemo eh?), and all his teeth are falling out (the joys of radiotherapy), but none of it matters because he is one of very few ALL survivors (so far).In four years of dealing with the haemotology ward, I have see many young men diagnosed with AML (be it 1,2 or 3)and each time I knew one of them had died, I would think about the unfairness of life,and death.But I will tell you something.....I would never change what has happened to my husband and I,for one simple eason.We have both learned alot about each other,and about humanity.I'm not afraid of death...neither for Ian nor I. And I learned that there is no such thing as bravery or heroes...there are just people who are better at coping with life's stuff. So alth ugh I could spout platitudes at you, I won't.Keith was a beautiful young man,with a stunner of a smile and that you lost him when you did sucks the big kumara (as we say down here.) So what I can say is that his life was never wasted as long as he brought just an iota of love into this world...and just looking at his smile,and reading your beautiful pages,I can tell he did a damn sight more than that. May you find peace and rediscover joy in your lives. My heart goes with you.

In reading your page, I feel your pain. I lost my son, Kurt, on November 28, 1998 at the age of 21. I understand the emptiness and the loneliness in a crowded room. I ache for my son and want so bad to see him ,touch him and hear his voice once more. You and your family have my deepest sympathy and I will pray for all of you. My greatest fear is that I will lose my memories of my Kurt and that will forget the sound of his voice or his crazy crooked smile. My Keith also bowled when he was 7 until he was 19 on a Father and Son league. M Keith also loved hunting and the outdoors. He had alot of energy that didnt quite either.
