Having a vision or a goal will help you continue to grow as a person, as a Christian, as a citizen of your community AND it will help your family, world, and church! Here is my vision:
To
see a unification among all believers in Christ.
Revival
in our Church, community, and beyond.
To
see the personal growth of all believers.
Through these occurrences, our world would change. If we believe what we profess, we will serve our church body, communities, and world; we would meet there needs, and through this Love, Christ's Love, we will bring the world to Christ. We are on our mission field!
If you are not a Christian, do you have goals for your own life? Goals are also used in everything from jobs to college, but of what purpose are they for your own personal life? Goals are important for every part of your life. Where are you going with yours? And what will you build them on?... career... friends... family? Everything is fleeting! Nothing in this day and age is secure-- no job, no family, not money, no retirement plan... Nothing but God who is Eternal is secure.
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed" Proverbs 16:3 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:6 If this sounds appealing to you all you need to do is to ask Him into your life. It's really not so scary, don't be afraid of the good He can do in your life.
Here's some tips for getting
started in your goals:
Pray! Keep a journal of prayer. There are a few on the market.
Most importantly, use this format or a variant of it (This one is easy
to remember):
Adoration Thanksgiving
Confession
Supplication
(ACTS) You should pray for yourself, but focus on praying for others in
great detail. Whoever is at the forefront of your prayers you might
find yourself in a strangely different relationship with.-- Prayer
changes the pray-er! Pray for people before events or organizations,
that is, pray for the people behind them. Pray for direction for yourself
and what the Lord wants to accomplish in you.
Find a prayer partner, a prayer group, or an accountability group. Make your needs known to each other and pray together. Pray for your church and it's people by name. Pray for revival.
Read and study scripture DILIGENTLY! How are we even to know what we claim to believe if we never read it?! "For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two- edged sword, it penetrates to dividing soul and spirit, bones and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12 His Word changes us!
Continue in the fellowship of believers. How can you care for, pray for and encourage anyone if you never get to know them. If that requires some other activities besides Sunday morning church service-- do it! You'll be happy you did!
Prayer and repentance precedes revival (both personal and corporate), revival precedes works (both personal and corporate) , works precedes evangelism(both personal and corporate), evangelism precedes growth (both personally and corporately)!
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matt 28:18-20 The Great Commission.
