STRAYS

We've all had problems, at one time or another, with strays. That poor animal walking along the road, searching for a home that it just can't find. My house seems to be a favorite among some of the local strays. I can't just let them starve, so I feed them. Then they start fighting. It got to where I had three stray cats and one stray dog that stayed here constantly. I had to call the animal shelter. They deserved better than what I could give them. It just killed me to have to turn them over.

Story sound familar? I hear it all to often from other animal lovers. I get so angry when I see another stray. Not angry at the animal, angry at the owner who domesticated the animal, then decided that the animal was too much trouble.

This section of my site is decicated to the millions of strays out there. They all have a story and here some of those stories will be told.

Missy's Story

Missy is a much older Pomeranian. She was loved all her life by an elderly lady. One day this lady had to be put in a nursing home. She left instructions for her son and daughter to take care of Missy. Their solution, however, was to dump her along with a truckload of litter beside the road. Here is poor Missy, probably in her late teens, partially deaf and mostly blind, sitting on the side of the road. That day turned out to be a lucky day for her, someone picked her up. They informed the authorities about Missy's situation, and the children are up on charges (for littering). The happiest part of this whole story is that Missy gets to go see her momma once a month at the nursing home.

If only all strays were as lucky. If you have a story about a stray, feel free to email me at: r.maddalozzo@worldnet.att.net so that I can post it here.
