The Authement Family
Genealogical Research Page
This site is dedicated to all ya'll out there who are related to the Authement Family. It is my hope to have all of us to have a family reunion before the year 2001. It is also my hope to have an Authement family biography published by that time with your help and the help of God.
The Authement or in France Autheman family came from Martigues, Bouche-du-Rhone, Provence, France which is on the coast of the Mediterenean Sea near Marseille. There are still Autheman family members in this part of France.
Most if not all the Authements in Louisiana are descendents of Jean Nicolas Authement and Catherine Mille. There is a Federic Authement who appears in Manchac in 1786 and is listed as sgt. in the permanant LA. regiment in a 1790 court case in New Orleans. Nothing is known of him yet other than this.
Nicolas was born Dec. 6 1736. He married Catherine Mille 9 June 1767 and he died in Martigues 13 Jan. 1823. He was the son of Andre' Autheman and Josephe Toussainte Lieutaud. Andre' was born 29 Nov. 1702. He was the son of Paul Autheman and Jeanne Colombet. Paul and Jeanne were married in quarter of Ferrieres 13 Aug. 1690. Paul was the son of Etienne Autheman and Marthe Ardoin. Paul died in Martigues 11 March 1721. Etienne moved to Martigues about 1670. He was the city attorney. The Autheman I am told were from the villages of Pelissanne and Grans(Bouche du Rhone dept.) and l'Isle sur Sorgue(dept. Vaucluse)
