Floorplan for Shared Living Arrangement

The illustration to the left is a floorplan of a group home. However, if you study it, you will realize that it's actually a duplex with a shared entry. The entry way has a half bath that is also shared but no other living space is shared between the two units. Each unit consists of two bedrooms with full baths, a kitchen with dining space, living room and rec room or den. This floorplan would be ideal for any type of shared living arrangement. The original floorplan had a larger rec room and no laundry room, so I sectioned off part of each rec room for a laundry room. Another alternative would be to leave the larger rec room (as shown in the original floorplan) and make the entry way smaller by moving the half bath to the outer wall, then move the opposite wall in to the entrance of the living room. Both kitchens could then be made slightly smaller and moved a little closer to the front of the house freeing up space at the back of the house for a shared laundry room between the two rec rooms.
