My Baptism

Diana with big DianaWhen I was three months old, it was time for me to be baptized. See who is holding me? That's Mommy's friend, Diana, who I was named after. Mommy and Daddy think Diana is a very strong person, and besides, she has a pretty name, and I am lucky to share it with her.

See the pretty gown I'm wearing? Mommy's grandma made it for me before I was born. Mommy called her "Teet-Tart" because she could not say, "Sweetheart," when she was little like me. Mommy's Teet-tart was very sick when she made this dress for me, and she died before it was finished. Mommy was very sad. But Mommy's Aunt Jerri finished it for me, and I got to wear it after all. I know Teet-tart would be very happy.

Rev. Baxter baptizes meWe had the baptism at my house because Mommy and Daddy's minister is from a church that didn't have a ramp for Mommy and her friends. It was really special to be baptized at home. All of my friends and family were there, and it was just like church, with candles and everything. The minister was even nice enough to bring the books from church that had the baptism ceremony in them, so everybody could follow along. It was a very personal and special day. At least that's what they tell me--I wouldn't know. I slept through the whole thing.
