How To Interview

STEP ONE--PREPARING TO INTERVIEW

Now you need to interview your mom, dad, and siblings. For some really good questions to put on your interview sheet, check out my questions page! Make sure to click your back button to get back to this page.

I hope that page gave you some good ideas. Interviewing people can be fun but it can make you nervous at first until you get the hang of it.

Turn to the next page in your notebook and on the left page write the name of the person you are going to interview. Say it is your mom. Write: MOM

Under that write on the first line:NAME
On the next line write:DOB: (That means Date of birth).
On the next line write:POB: (that means Place of birth).
Then, on the next line write:Spouse:
Write DOB, POB, DOD in the same manner as you did for the person you're actually interviewing. Continue on in the same manner for the children.

Let's review the three parts of the dates you will record:
Month
Day
Year

And now the three parts of the locations:
City
County
State/Province
Country

STEP TWO--THE INTERVIEW

YOUR NOTEBOOK IS READY FOR THE FIRST INTERVIEW! In the interview, after you have filled in the prepared part of the page, you may ask the questions that you found interesting that you saw on the Family Home Maker site you visited. These questions, when answered, will add interest to your project.

It would be wise to interview one person at a time. Always agree upon a preselected time and date for the interview with the interviewee. Try to conduct the interview away from telephone and television.

While you are speaking with your mom, ask her if you could have PHOTOCOPIES of birth certificates--yours, hers, and those of your siblings.

You may now interview your father and siblings in the same manner.
