George Kessler and his first wife Elizabeth had these children-Matilda Kessler, Anna Kessler, and William Kessler. (1) John and Elizabeth Kessler's daughter Matilda Kessler married - John Horn, merchant tailor, commenced business in April 1881. He does all kinds of work in his line, and is the only representative of this branch of business in Fieldon.
John Horn was born January 29, 1850 in the Empire of Germany. His parents were Philip and Gerdraud (Myer) Horn, natives of Germany. His father died in Germany at age 63. His mother is still living, at Ardon, Madison county, Ill., now 53 years old. At the age of 13 years John began to learn the tailor's trade with his father, with whom he worked seven years. He then started to this country, taking passage on the steamer at Hamburg, and landing at New York after being on the water 14 days. He came from New York by rail to St. Louis, and from there went to Sparta, Randolph county, Ill., where he worked at his trade two months. From there he went to Evansville, Ind., working at his trade about nine months, and then he went back to St. Louis and worked one year.
In the spring of 1872 he went to Salem, Ill., where he worked two years, and from there went to Evansville, Ind., and went into business for himself. Not being successful there, he returned to St. Louis, stayed there about one year, and in the fall of 1875 went to Atchison, Kan., where he worked several months, and again returned to St. Louis, where he remained six months. In July 1876 he started for the old country by way of New York, on the steamer Otter, sailing for Bremen.
He arrived there about August 1st, and remained there four years, during all of which time he worked at his trade. In March 1881 he returned to this country and located at Fieldon, where he has since resided. Mr. Horn has been married twice, first to Margaret Hagen, a nataive of Germany, to whom two children were born, Willie and one that died. His present wife was Matilda Kessler, daughter of George Kessler. By this marriage there is one child, Anna. Mr. and Mrs. Horn are members of the German Lutheran church. Mr. Horn has a tailor shop in Fieldon, where he carries on his business and is doing well.

John Walter and Julia Theresa (Ballard) Horn's son - Paul Edward Horn, 94, died at 1:38 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at his home. Born Oct. 20, 1911, in Jerseyville, he was the only child of John Walter and Julia (Ballard) Horn. After graduating from Jersey Township High School, he attended Illinois College in Jacksonville where he was a member of the college band. He was active in sports throughout high school and college, lettering in football, basketball and track and setting records at Illinois College in 1931. He ran track against former President Reagan, a story he loved to tell: "In March 1931, I competed in the two-mile run at Wheaton College in Naperville. Nineteen colleges participated with 60 runners. I finished third and received a medal. Ronald Reagan finished first, and I haven't seen him since."
He married the former Virginia House on Aug. 15, 1931, in Jerseyville, and they recently celebrated 75 years of marriage. His interest in sports never wavered, as he supported football, basketball (boys and girls), all his life, going to all the high school games both in and out of town. He played trumpet in Jerseyville's city band for 30 years, serving as manager for 15 years. He played taps for all the deceased war veterans at the cemetery for 40 years and received a plaque from the VFW and American Legion in 1953 for serving as bugler for military funerals. His first job was working for Froman Beach at Beach Grain Elevator from 1929 until 1932. In the late part of 1932, he established the Horn Insurance Agency in Jerseyville, with his wife, Virginia, assisting as secretary. He opened the Jersey Theater in 1938, the Lux Theater in Edwardsville in 1939 and a theater in Girard in 1940. The lifelong resident of Jerseyville supported many organizations and projects throughout his 94 years. He became a board member of Jersey State Bank on May 6, 1952, and served as chairman of the board for the past 16 years. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville since 1945 and served as chairman of trustees for three years.
His many memberships included charter member of Westlake Country Club; a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge for 72 years, serving as exalted ruler from 1954 to 1955; a member of the Lions Club since 1942 and serving as their president; a Mason member for 68 years; a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge and Chamber Ambassadors; and a member of the Shriners for more than 50 years, having helped many children receive treatment at Shriners Children's Hospital in St. Louis. He was appointed to the Illinois Highway Toll Road Commission in 1963 and served for six years; was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles; served as a member of the County Board of Supervisors for 12 years, receiving a plaque and a gold watch; and served as co-chairman in the building of the all-weather track for the Jerseyville School District. He and his wife were honored to be marshals of the Jersey County Fair parade in July 1996 and received a key to the city of Jerseyville. He was instrumental in establishing a new order of housing in Jersey County and was elected commissioner of the Housing Authority in January 1965, serving 28 years as chairman. On the Housing Authority board, he was instrumental in the construction of four units in Jerseyville and one in Grafton, plus the James Allen Apartments, as well as the Bert Feyerabend Building.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Thomas Feyerabend Sr. of Jerseyville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Kimberly and David Phelan of Prineville, Ore., and Thomas and Barbara Feyerabend Jr. of Blue Springs, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, David Feyerabend of Kansas City, Mo., Matthew Feyerabend and his wife, Megan, of Siloam, Ark., and Nathan Feyerabend of Blue Springs; and a cousin, Grace Reynolds of Jerseyville. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Visitation continued from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville, with the Rev. Ed Haun officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church Foundation.

(1aa) George Philip and Bertha (Steckel) Horn's daughter Mary Ann (Horn) Wittman's husband - Carl John Wittman, 87, died at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. He was born Aug. 12, 1916, on the family farm near Beltrees in Jersey County, the son of the late Peter J. and Kunigunda (Wendle) Wittman. He married the former Mary Ann "Mayme" Horn Dec. 30, 1940, at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and they would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. A U.S. Army World War II veteran, he was employed as a truck driver for more than 30 years for Mundy Lumber Company in Jerseyville, retiring in 1978. A member of the Teamsters Local 525 and the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, he was also the president of the final Jersey County draft board. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was fishing with his sons and grandsons or putting the finishing touches on his garden that he planted for many years. He was very proud of his family and was known to keep close tabs on each and every one of them, as he made his daily car ride by each one of their homes.
In addition to his wife, surviving are five daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Lewie Miles, Helen and Ron Medford, Bonnie and Wayne Seehausen, all of Jerseyville, Hope and Randy Gibson of Olney and Minette and Bob Griffith of Godfrey; five sons and daughters-in-law, George and Margaret Wittman, Jerry and Kathy Wittman, Neal and Cindy Wittman, Vincent and Kay Wittman and Gene and Jackie Wittman, all of Jerseyville; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Gray of Godfrey; and three brothers, Leo Wittman of Jerseyville, Walter Wittman of Brighton and Norb Wittman of Alton. Preceding him in death was a grandson, William C. "Bill" Seehausen on Sept. 27, 1996; and three brothers, Raymond, Joseph and William Wittman. Visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home, Jacoby Chapel, in Jerseyville, where a rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial was said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Fr. William Hembrow officiating. Burial was at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville or to Masses.

His funeral mass was celebrated Thursday morning at Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Father C. R. Horn, Father William Hembrow, and Msgr P.P. Heinen as celebrants. He died at 9:15 p.m. Oct 8 at his residence. He was born May 21, 1914 in Jersey County to the late Thomas and Eugenia Smith Erwin. Erwin was in maintenance at the Peavey Mill. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Moose Lodge and the American Legion.
His survivors are his wife, the former Florence "Toad" Horn whom he married Aug 22, 1942 in Jerseyville, a son Tom and daughter Judy Smith of Jerseyville, sister Florence Woodward of Granite City and Bettie Goodfellow of LaVale, MD and seven grandchildren. The Jerseyville American Legion conducted military rites at St Francis Cemetery.

Paul and Florence (Horn) Erwin's son - Thomas E. Erwin, 45, died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday Mar 13, 1990 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was a carpenter with Union Local 377 of Madison County. He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge and American Legion, all of Jerseyville. Born in Jersey County he was the son of Florence Horn Erwin and the late Paul Erwin.

Visitation was from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Jacoby-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jerseyville with a rosary recitation at 6:30 p.m. A funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville with the Rev. William Hembrow as celebrant. Burial was in St Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to Holy ghost School of the American Cancer Society.

Carol was married to Roland "Ed" Essen in 1970 and lived in Brighton, IL at the time of her death. Lewis Kessler, Eunice's first husband died and Eunice is remarried to Nolan Fugitt and now lives in Oregon City, Oregon.

(1aa) Lewis and Eunice (Griffin) Kessler's daughter Carol J. (Kessler) Essen's obituary - Carol J. (Kessler) Essen, 53, died at 11:01 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at her home. Born Aug. 9, 1948, in Carrollton, she was a daughter of Eunice Marie (Griffin) Kessler of Portland, Ore., and the late Lewis George Kessler. She married Roland "Ed" Essen March 13, 1970, in St. Charles, Mo. He survives.
In addition to her husband and mother, surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Jeanette Essen of Portland and Cindy K. and Ken Tripp of Portland; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Amanda Essen of Carrollton; and five grandsons, Nick, Mark, Josh, Joe and Jacob.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Tri-County Vietnam Veterans Association. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where the Rev. Delbert Essen will officiate at services at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in the Grimes-Neely Cemetery, west of Jerseyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Gubser Funeral Home.
(2) John and Margaretha (Horn) Kessler's son - George John Kessler, died 6 April 1967: George John Kessler, a retired farmer living on Route Three, Jerseyville, died at nine-fifty o'clock Saturday morning at the Jersey Community Hospital where he had been admitted earlier in the week for treatment. Rev. H.O. Renken officiated at funeral services held at two o'clock Monday afternoon at Jacoby Brothers funeral home. Burial was in grimes cemetery.
Mr. Kessler was born in Jersey county, 25 September 1883, a son of the late George and Margaret Horn Kessler. His survivors are one son, William G. Kessler of Jerseyville; one granddaughter, Mrs. Janet Brangenberg of Kane; and two great grandchildren, Denise and Craig Brangenberg of Kane. He was a member of the Eagles and Elks Lodges in Jerseyville and the Fieldon Lodge, AF&AM.

William and Edna (Lundquist) Kessler's granddaughter, and their daughter Janet (Kessler) Brangenberg's daughter - Denise Elaine Brangenberg, born 08-28-1964, Alton, Madison County, Illinois, died 02-07-1981, buried Grimes cemetery. Denise Elaine Brangenberg, 16, daughter of Dale & Janet (Kessler) Brangenberg, of RR Jerseyville, was pronounced dead on arrival at the scene of the area's 2nd fatal accident in 2 weeks.
She was killed instantly when she lost control of her father's truck, just a short distance from her home, Feb. 7. She was enroute home after leaving a friends home a short time earlier. According to the accident report the truck was traveling east on west county road in English Township when the unit apparently went out of control, veered off the north shoulder and flipped over on its top. The truck then skidded on its top for approximately 20 ft before coming to rest in the middle of the road. The vehicle was found by a passerby early the following morning.
Denise was born Aug. 28, 1964 in Alton, and was a junior at Jersey Community high school. She is survived by her parents, 1 brother, Craig, at home; her maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. William Kessler of Summerland Key, FL; and her paternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Paul Brangenberg of Kampsville. Visitation was held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral home in Jerseyville. Services were held at Fieldon United Church of Christ with Rev. Robert Broeder officiating. Burial was in Grimes cemetery. Memorials may be given to Fieldon United Church of Christ.
(3) John and Margaretha (Horn) Kessler's daughter Emma Kessler married Louis John Krueger. Her husband - Louis John Krueger died 08-06-1959. Unknown newspaper, 13 August 1959: Final rites for Louis John Krueger, well-known Fieldon resident and a former supervisor from Richwood township, were held Sunday afternoon, 9 August at two o'clock at Christ Evangelical and Reformed church in Fieldon, of which he was a member. Rev. Alton Loar, pastor of the church, officiated and burial was in the Fieldon cemetery. Friends called at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home where on Saturday evening (picture of decedent appears here in obituary) at eight o'clock Masonic services were conducted by Fieldon Lodge No. 592.
The death of Mr. Krueger occurred Thursday evening, 6 August at 8:10 o'clock at his home in Fieldon where he had resided for more than thirty years. He had been in failing health for some time. The decedent was a son of the late William C. and Dorothea Prill Krueger and was born in Jersey County on 22 November 1873. His age at the time of death was eighty-five years, eight months and fourteen days. As a young man, Mr. Krueger engaged in farming. He was married on 30 April 1896 to Miss Emma Kessler and their sixty third wedding anniversary occurred this year.
Mr. Krueger was active in civic affairs and the Masonic Lodge of Fieldon. He had been a member of the Lodge for forty-seven years and served as its treasurer for twenty-nine years. He served as member of the Jersey County Board of Supervisors from 1924 to 1933, a position now held by his son, Supervisor Harold L. Krueger. The latter was elected to the post in 1945. The decedent also served as a school director for twenty years and was a member of the Directorate of Fieldon State Bank at the time it was purchased by the State Bank of Jerseyville several years ago. Surviving Mr. Krueger are his wife, Mrs. Emma Krueger, one daughter, Miss Hilda F. Krueger, and two sons, Supervisor Harold L. Krueger and Albert F. Krueger, all of Fieldon, one brother, Charles Krueger, 98 years old Jerseyville resident; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Walter and William Krueger.

She is survived by two brothers, Harold and Albert Krueger, both of Fieldon. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services were held at 1:30 today (February 8) at the Fieldon United Church of Christ, Rev. Robert Broeder officiating, with burial in the Fieldon cemetery. Eastern Star services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home where visitation was held that evening and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the funeral time. The Fieldon United Church of Christ has been named as a memorial.

(2a) Louis and Emma (Kessler) Krueger's son - Albert F. Krueger died 09-22-1985. Alton telegraph, 22 September 1985: Fieldon - Albert F. Krueger, 74, died at 4:42 a.m. today at St. Anthony's hospital. He was a farmer, born in Fieldon, son of the late Louis John and Emma (Kessler) Krueger. He was married to Freda Hamilton on 12 September 1936 and she died on 22 September 1962. He then married Fern Pauline Lyles Cummings on 30 April 1975 in Edwardsville. She survives in Fieldon.
Also surviving are a son, Donald L. of Waterloo; four Daughters, Marcella Marie McCallister of Pana, Phyllis Ann Long of East Alton, Karen Linn Krueger of Alton and Cristal Ourdehner of Matteson; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Harold of Fieldon. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. by the Fieldon Masonic Lodge. Krueger Sr., 89, died at 12 :45 Friday, 11 December 1987 at Garnet's Chateau after a lengthy illness. a farmer, who retired in 1979, he served 20 years as supervisor in Richwoods township of Jersey County. He was born in Fieldon, son of the late Louis and Emma (Kessler) Krueger. He married the former Leola Busch of Fieldon on 26 October 1921 in Belleville. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Harold L. Krueger, Jr. of Godfrey; two granddaughters; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Gubser Funeral Home. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and will be performed by Fieldon Masonic Lodge 592 AF & AM funeral services will be Gubser Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday with Rev. Jean Erb officiating. Burial will be in Fieldon cemetery. Memorials will go to the organ fund of the United Church of Christ in Fieldon, of which he was a member.
(4) John and Margaretha (Horn) Kessler's daughter - Freda Gertrude (Kessler) Groppel, 73, wife of former Mayor Clemmens G Groppel, Sr, of Jerseyville, d. March 9, at St. Anthony hospital, Alton. She had been ill for an extended period and a patient for 5 days. Born in Jersey county, March 16, 1882, a daughter of the late George & Margaretha (Horn) Kessler.
In addition her husband, survivors are 2 daughters, Mrs Robert Miller, Jerseyville and Mrs Otis Cooper, Fieldon; 1 son, Clemmons, Jr, Jerseyville; 7 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs Louis Krueger, Fieldon and Mrs Louisa Haushalter, Blue Island and 1 brother, George Kessler of Fieldon. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 1 brother, and 1 grandchild. She was a member of the Church of Peace and Steelman Camp, Royal Neighbors of America. Funeral services were held March 11 at Jacoby Brothers funeral home in Jerseyville. Rev William D. Stickney, Pastor of the Church of Peace, Jerseyville officiated and interment was in Oak Grove cemetery.

Born March 28, 1922 at Jerseyville, he was the son of the late James Francis and Nora (Murphy) Wahl. He married Lola Lowe July 23, 1973 at Jerseyville and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Pam Blackorby of Franklin; four sons, Jim, Alan and Rick of Jerseyville and Bob of Highland; two stepchildren, Marvin Uphold of Milton and Joyce Herren of Wood River, and 17 grandchildren. A mechanic, Mr. Wahl had worked at McDonnell-Douglas for 31 years, retiring in 1980. He was a World War II Army veteran.
A funeral mass was held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church in Jerseyville with Father Henry Schmidt oficiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Jerseyville American Legion participating. Memorials may be given to St. Francis Xavier or Holy Ghost Schools.

Alan Wahl's former wife Pamela (Rice) Wahl's father Billie Charles Rice's obituary - Billie Charles Rice, 78, died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Robings Manor in Brighton. Born March 23, 1929, in Alton, he was the son of Thomas and Ida Mae (Ruckman) Bishop. He retired from the Olin Corporation as a ballistics tester and foreman in 1989. He served in World War II with the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Rangers. He was a member of the Alton Eagles FOE 254 and enjoyed fishing and golf.

Pamela (Wahl) Blackorby's husband Louis A. Blackorby's uncle Herman Hartcourt Blackorby Jr.'s obituary - Herman Hartcourt Blackorby Jr., 84, died at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at his residence after a period of declining health. He was born Dec. 5, 1923, in Granite City, one of 10 children born to Herman H. and Grace E. (Drulard) Blackorby, now deceased. He married the former Luella C. Carstens Aug. 26, 1946, in Jerseyville, and they would have soon celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. She survives. As a young man he attended Jersey County schools, and entered the United States Navy in 1942, serving in World War II. He attained the rank of aviation ordinance turret, first class, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married shortly after his discharge. In November 1946 he was hired by the city of Jerseyville as a patrolman for the police department.
He was elected Jersey County sheriff in 1949, serving one term, then was elected Jersey County treasurer. He served in that capacity for three years before he was asked to serve as chief of police for the city of Jerseyville, a position he held for 23 years before retiring in 1980. He began serving as a security officer for Jersey State Bank in 1982, and in April 1983, once again served the citizens of Jerseyville, being elected as the city's mayor, serving the Jerseyville community for three terms. A very community-minded individual, he served on many clubs, committees and organizations, including the First United Methodist Church, the Fieldon Masonic Lodge, where he served as master in 1969, and the board of directors of the Piasa Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He was president of the Jerseyville Jaycees in 1956. He was a lifetime member of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, serving on the executive board for 10 years, a life member of the Illinois Police Association, a chairman of the Southern Illinois Police Association and advisory board member for the research center, law enforcement education at Western Illinois University in Macomb for four years. He served as chairman of the West Central Illinois Law Enforcement Commission for five years.
In addition to his wife, Luella, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Connie Blackorby of Jerseyville and Ronald and Vicky Blackorby of Columbus, Ohio; three granddaughters, Leigh and husband, Todd, McGill of Chesterfield, Ill., Shannon Blackorby of Jerseyville and Mindy Blackorby of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Bernadine Mitchell of Alton, Della Shortal of Jefferson City, Mo., and Marilyn Scott of Jerseyville; and two brothers, Sloke Blackorby of Jerseyville and Louis Blackorby of Dow. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie (Blackorby) Arthur; and three brothers, Cleo, Harold and Bert Blackorby and one in infancy. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, until the 7 p.m. funeral services at the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville. The Rev. Mark Myers will officiate. Pamela (Wahl) Blackorby's husbamd Louis A. Blackorby's uncle Sloke Monroe Blackorby's obituary - Sloke Monroe Blackorby, 77, died at 2:25 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after several years of declining health. He was born Dec. 29, 1931, in Rosedale, the seventh of 10 children born to the late Herman and Grace (Drulard) Blackorby. He married the former Connie Heitzig on March 20, 1987, in Las Vegas, and they shared the past 21 years together. She survives. He attended Rosedale schools and entered the United States Air Force in 1951. He was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, where he served as a crew chief on a jet fighter. After his honorable discharge in 1959, he began his long career spanning 26 years as a State Trooper with the Illinois State Police. After his retirement in 1983, Sloke went on to live life to the fullest. He enjoyed each day with his family and friends. Sloke was an avid boater, and loved to be on the water as well as play a great game of cards. He was one that never met a stranger and was a friend to all.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff Blackorby and Scott and Debbie Blackorby, all of Jerseyville; a daughter, Lona Blackorby of Golden Eagle; two stepsons and their spouses, Scott and Connie Fry of Jerseyville and Chad and Julie Fry of Elgin; grandchildren, Stephanie, Destiny, April and Jeremy Blackorby and Krista, Kayla and Konnor Fry, all of Jerseyville, Emersyn Fry of Elgin and Nikki Smith of Jerseyville; a brother, Louis Blackorby of Dow; and three sisters, Bernadine Mitchell of Alton, Della Shortal of Jefferson City, Mo., and Marilyn Scott of Jerseyville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen J. Blackorby, on Nov. 23, 1995, and five brothers, Cleo, Harold, Herman and Charles Bert Blackorby, and one in infancy. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with a 6 p.m. Elks service, followed by a rosary recitation. Simpson, 49, of R.R. 3, Jerseyville was celebrated Monday morning, Feb. 24, at St. Francis Xavier Church with Father R.T. Shea, celebrant. She died at 5:45 a.m. on Feb. 22, 1974 at Jersey Community Hospital after an extended illness. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 23, 1925 in Jersey County, a daughter of William and Freda Kraushaar Hewitt. Mrs. Simpson was a nurse's aide. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary of Jerseyville. Her survivors include her husband E. J. Simpson; four sons, James, Alan, Rick and Robert Wahl of Jerseyville; a daughter, Mrs. Louis (Pam) Blackorby of Franklin; and a brother, William Hewitt of Troy. Visitation was held at Jacoby Funeral Home where the Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday evening, Feb. 23.

William James Wahl's second wife - Lola I. Wahl, 66, of Pittsfield died Monday, June 18, 2001, at the Pittsfield Healthcare Center. Born Oct. 30, 1034 in Rosedale. She was the daughter of Charles Jasper and Cecelia Irene (Cope) Lowe. She married James Wahl Sr.: He preceded her in death. Mrs. Wahl owned and was a waitress at at a bakery/restaurant. She cared for injured wildlife for the Illinois Department of Conservation and released them back into the wild. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Pittsfield.
Survivors include a son, Gene Uphold of Pittsfield, a daughter, Joyce Herron of Mitchell; two brothers, Charles Lowe of Meadowbrook and Milton Lowe of Nutwood; five grandchildren, and three grea-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, a brother, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Uphold. Memorial services were held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Pittsfield with Pastor Darrell Bucher officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Assembly of God Church or the Illinois Department of Natural Resorces Wildlife Rehabilitation Program.

Township. died at his home near Jerseyville, on January 18. Mr Wahl was born in Jersey County, October 9, 1874, son of the late James & Alice (Cuddihy) Wahl, natives of Ireland. Surviving are 1 brother, James F. Wahl, and 1 nephew James W. Wahl, all of Jerseyville. Funeral services were held January 21, at St. Francis Xavier Church with Rev Fr. J. J. Clancy as Celebrant. Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery.

She was born in Jersey County May 12, 1885 the daughter of James I & Alice (Cuddihy) Wahl. She is survived by 1 nephew, James W. Wahl of Jerseyville; g-nieces and g-nephews. Her parents and 4 brothers preceded her in death.
Visitation was held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville where Rosary was recited. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church with Fr. R. T. Shea celebrant. Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery.
