Laverne Davenport was born July 16, 1900 in Otterville, Jersey County, IL, a son of Walter & Mary (Dabbs) Davenport. He died January 5, 1981 at Garnett Chateau in Jerseyville, IL. His burial was in Fieldon Cemetery, Richwood Township, Jersey County, IL. He married Laurine L. Tice Feb. 1, 1929 in Jerseyville, IL. She was born 8-23-1909 in Goodlan, Ind., the daughter of the late William C. and Anna Mabelle (Clairmont) Tice. She died Dec. 20, 1986, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville, IL. Her burial was in Fieldon Cemetery, Richwood Township, Jersey County, IL.

Laverne Davenport's obituary - Laverne Davenport, died 01-05-1981. Laverne Davenport, 80, of Fieldon died January 5, at Garnett Chateau. The retired farmer was born July 16, 1900 in Otterville, a son of Walter & Mary (Dabbs) Davenport. Services were conducted Wednesday at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home by Rev. Robert Patterson of Grafton with burial in Fieldon cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Laurine (Tice) Davenport whom he married February 11, 1929 in Jerseyville; 5 Sons, Leslie and Gary of Jerseyville, Jim of Dow, Donald of Carlyle and Lee of Gray, GA; 1 Daughter, Marilyn Pruitt of Fieldon; 13 grandchildren and 6 g-grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Geneva Mourning of Peoria, AZ and Roberta Christen of Phoenix, AZ and 1 step sister, Marie Keehner of - incomplete.

Laverne Davenport's wife Laurine L. (Tice) Davenport's obituary - Laurine L. (Tice) Davenport, 77, of Fieldon, died at 5:15 a.m. today, Dec. 20, 1986, at Jersey Community Hospital. Born in Goodlan, Ind., the daughter of the late William C. and Anna Mabelle (Clairmont) Tice, she was a school teacher in the Unit 100 School District for 18 years, retiring in 1958. She married LaVern Davenport on Feb. 1, 1929 in Jerseyville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1981.

Surviving are five sons, Leslie Lavern and Gary Leon, both of Jerseyville, Donald Ray of Beckemeyer, Herbert Lee of Macon, Ga., and James David of Fieldon; one daughter Marilyn Kay Pruitt of Fieldon; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchilden; and one brother, Clarence Tice of Anderson, Ind. Visitation was from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral services were Monday at Gospel Assembly Church in Jerseyville. Burial was in Fieldon Cemetery and memorials may be given to the Fieldon First Baptist Church of which she was a member.

(Note: Laverne Davenport's wife, Laurine L. (Tice) Davenport, was my grade school teacher at Pleasant Cove School in Rosedale Township, Jersey County, IL from about 1950 to 1956.)

He is buried at Lax Cemetery, English Township, Jersey County, IL. Laverne Davenport's father Walter Davenport was the son of George Washington and Martha (Lane) Davenport. George Washington Davenport was born 8-10-1853 in Tennessee, and died 4-25-1936 in Jersey County, IL. He is buried at Noble Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. His wife Martha (Lane) Davenport was born in 1856 and died 10-28-1914. She is buried at Noble Cemetery also. George Washington Davenport was the son of Isaac Davenport born in 1827 in Tennessee and Mary (Boles) Davenport.

Laverne Davenport's mother Mary E. (Dabbs) Davenport was born in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. She was the daughter of William W. and Catherine (Worthy) Dabbs's. She married Walter Davenport 2-7-1900.

Don and Mary (Dabbs) Beach's daughter Geneva Pearl Beach married Howard Springman 2-2-1924. She later married a man who's last name was Mourning and they lived in Peoria, AZ.

Don Beach had been married before to Stella Harmon. Stella (Harmon) Beach later married Laverne Davenport's father Walter Davenport 5-17-1904. Don Beach's first wife, and Laverne Davenport's father Walter Davenport's second wife Stella (Harmon) Beach Davenport's obituary - Stella (Harmon) Beach Davenport, 76 years, 1 months, 9 days, died at 1 :20 pm Sunday, November 1, 1953 at Boyd Memorial hospital in Carrollton following a few weeks illness. The deceased was a daughter of the late Henry C. & Mary (Reddish) Harmon and was born in Jersey County, September 24, 1877.

Mrs Davenport is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Lester Dabbs and Mrs. Carl Dehner of Jerseyville; 1 step-son Laverne Davenport of Fieldon; 5 grandchildren; 11 g-grandchildren, and 1 g-g-granddaughter, and 4 sisters, Mrs Joseph Slover and Mrs. Louis Houseman of Jerseyville, Mrs. Gertrude Black of Elsberry, Missouri, and Mrs. ?? G. Redstone of Miami, FL. Funeral services were held at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, Wednesday November 4, at 2 pm. Rev. Carl C. Moman officiated, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.

(Don and Stella (Harmon) Beach also had a son Charles H. Beach born in 1897, and died 11-30-1938. He was a WWI veteran. He is buried at Lax Cemetery, English Township, Jersey County, IL.)

(4) Laverne and Laurine L. (Tice) Davenport's son Herbert Lee Davenport lives in Macon, GA.

(5) Laverne and Laurine L. (Tice) Davenport's son James David Davenport married Geraldine Marie Cain 8-25-1959 in Jersey County, IL.

(7) Laverne and Laurine L. (Tice) Davenport's son Wesley Lavern Davenport Jr. was born 12-12-1940 in Jersey County, IL. and died 12-12-1940 in infancy in Jersey County, IL. He was buried at White Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL.

Archie Albert Cain

Archie Albert Cain was born July 1, 1916 in Potosi, Mo., a son of John and Julie (Jackson) Cain. He died at his residence, R. 1, Fieldon, Jersey County, IL Nov. 14, 1982. His burial was in Fieldon Cemetery, Richwood Township, Jersey County, IL. Archie Albert Cain was the son of John William and Julie Elizabeth (Jackson) Cain. His parents married 8-25-1900. Archie Albert Cain's mother Julie Elizabeth (Jackson) Cain was born in 1882 and died in Feb. 1925. She is buried at Furnace Creek Cemetery, Concord Township, Washington County, MO.

Archie Albert Cain married Lorene DeClue. She was born 4-22-1920, and died 8-4-1991. She is buried at Fieldon Cemetery, Richwood Township, Jersey County, IL. She was the daughter of Joseph Clarence and Mary Frances (Boyer) DeClue. Her father Joseph Clarence DeClue was born 10-16-1886 and died 11-30-1970. He was the son of (John) Jean Joseph Julien DeClue amd Olive Pagge' Fr. for Pashia. (John) Jean Joseph DeClue was the son of Alexander DeClue and Judith DuFour. Joseph Clarence DeClue's wife Mary Frances Boyer was born 4-8-1890 and died 12-17-1945. Lorene (DeClue) Cain's parents Joseph Clarence and Mary Frances (Boyer) DeClue are buried at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Richwoods Township, Washington County, MO.

Archie Albert Cain's obituary - Archie Albert Cain, died 11-14-82. Services for Archie Albert Cain, 66, who died at his residence, R. 1, Fieldon, at 1:40 a.m., Nov. 14, 1982, were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Open Door Fellowship Church in Jerseyville. he Revs. Wilbur Cain and A. J. Maggos officiated He was born July 1, 1916 in Potosi, Mo., a son of John and Julie (Jackson) cain. He retired in 1976 as an operating engineer out of local 520.

His survivors are his wife, the former Lorene DeClue; four sons, Robert and Rev. Wilbur Cain of Jerseyville, Charles Cain of Carrollton and the Rev. Glenn Cain, Fieldon; five daughters, Erma Baker, Hollywood, Md., Geraldine Davenport, Dow, Dorothy Dunham, Jerseyville, Rose Chapman, Fieldon, Barbara Travers, Brighton. Also surviving are five brothers, Noah, Clifford, Harry, Henry and Hunky, all of Potosi, Mo.; and a sister, Estelle Drennen, Mineral Point, Mo. His parents, five brothers, and five sisters preceded him in death. The Open Door Fellowship Church has been named as a memorial. Burial was in Fieldon Cemetery.

Lorene (DeClue) Cain's sister - Blance C. (DeClue) Rulo, died 05-05-1981. Blanche C. Rulo, 59, 105 E. Main, Grafton died at St. Anthony hospital in Alton, May 5, 6:02 pm. A funeral mass was celebrated Friday am at St. Patrick church in Grafton with burial in Scenic Hill cemetery. She was born December 22, 1921 in Richwoods, Missouri, a daughter of Joseph & Frances (Boyer) Declue.

Her survivors include her husband, Rolla Rulo whom she married December 12, 1941 in Potosi, Missouri; 8 sons, Rollen, Joe, Kenny, Jerry, Dick, Ronnie and Terry, all of Grafton and Roy of Godfrey; 3 daughters, Charlene Carpenter of Alton, Betty Fry of Wood River and Sharon Lyons of Germany; 21 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Cletus Declue of Richwoods, Missouri and Leonard Declue of Fieldon; 2 sisters, Lena Mayhew of Wood River and Lorene Cain of Fieldon. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, 1 daughter and 1 sister. The rosary was recited Thursday evening at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Grafton. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Lorene (Declue) Cain's sister - Lena Helen (DeClue) Mayhew, 93, died at 4:55 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville. She was born June 18, 1910, in Richwoods, Mo., one of six children of Joseph and Irene (Mersele) DeClue. She married Roland Mayhew on Dec. 15, 1952, in Chicago. He died in 1976, prompting her to eventually come back to this area to be near her family. A resident of Chicago for many years, she was employed as a group captain at the Stewart-Warner Gauge Co. in Chicago for 30 years before retiring.

She is survived by a brother, Leonard DeClue of Jerseyville, and many nieces and nephews who live in the area. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Cletus DeClue, and three sisters, Grace Cain, Blanche Rulo and Lorene Cain.

Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday. Her nephew, the Rev. Wilbur Cain, officiated. Burial was at Fieldon Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Charity Christian Center in Jerseyville.

Glenn Cain's wife Anna (Dunham) Cain's father Otis Henry Dunham's obituary - Otis Henry Dunham 05/12/2006-Otis Henry Dunham, 90, died at 3:09 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. He was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Greene County to Otto and Mary (Freand) Dunham. Shortly before his 20th birthday, he married the former Lola Mae Talley on Sept. 30, 1935, in Carrollton. They have shared the past 70 years together. As a young man, he was raised in the Fieldon area and had worked at the quarry and in timber. He retired in 1978 as a laborer at Shell Oil Co. after 35 years of service. During his free time, he enjoyed his family, farming south of Jerseyville near Delhi and fox hunting. He was a devout follower of the St. Louis Cardinals.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Glenn Cain of Jerseyville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Lee Dunham of Fieldon, Richard and Ruth Ann Dunham of Kane, Melvine and Joanne Dunham and Carl and Dorothy Dunham, all of Jerseyville; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Russell of Jerseyville and Marjorie Green of Payson, Ariz. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lee Dunham, on June 7, 2005; three grandchildren, Brenda Jo Dunham, in infancy; Kathy Dunham, in 1991, and Bradley Dunham, in 1994; three brothers, Edward, Lester and Robert Dunham; and three sisters, Lillie Mundy, Imogene Burch and Nina Green. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Wilbur Cain will officiate. Burial will be at Fieldon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jersey Community Hospital or to the Charity Christian Center in Jerseyville.

Glenn Cain's wife Anna (Dunham) Cain's brother Thomas Lee Dunham's obituary - Thomas Lee Dunham, 56, died at 6:16 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis County. He was born April 7, 1949, in Jersey County to Otis H. and Lola M. (Talley) Dunham. He began his employment with Owens-Illinois Glass Manufacturing before going to work for Amoco Refineries as an operator. He worked for Amoco in Hartford and Independence, Mo., and eventually went to work for Amoco in Yorktown, Va., before retiring in 1999. After his retirement, he went to work for Pere Marquette, where he was employed at the time of his death, and sold real estate for Home of America. He was a member of the Jerseyville Eagles Lodge 2747, Jerseyville Moose Lodge 695 and the American Legion Post 492 in Jerseyville. He served his country during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa A. and Francis Snead of Richmond, Va.; Lisa's mother, Elizabeth Dunham of Alton; two grandchildren, Trey and Cole Snead, at home; a special companion, Beverly Cox of Jerseyville; a sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Glenn Cain of Jerseyville; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Lee Dunham of Fieldon, Richard and Ruth Ann Dunham of Kane, Melvin and Joann Dunham of Jerseyville and Carl and Dorothy Dunham of Jerseyville. He was preceded in death by one nephew, Bradley Dunham; and two nieces, Kathy Dunham and Brenda Jo Dunham.
