WANT TO SEE SOME GREAT PICTURES OF MY HOLIDAY TO NEW ZEALAND?
SIT BACK AND ENJOY!
In October, my Mum, Dad and I went on a holiday to New Zealand. It was my first overseas trip and it was great! We saw so many things and met so many great people (including my May Babies' buddy - Makene!)
So sit back, relax and enjoy sharing my holiday!
We flew from Melbourne to Auckland and Mum and Dad had organised the flight time so that I should have slept most of the way there and they could relax and enjoy the in-flight entertainment, but I had other ideas! I finally fell asleep just as we were coming into land at Auckland - so then Dad had to carry me through customs and the terminal along with all the luggage!

From Auckland, we travelled north to Whangarei and Paihia in the Bay of Islands. It's really beautiful country and while we were there, we caught a ferry across to Russell which was the first capital of New Zealand. It is a small historic town and we had a great day taking a historic walking tour. We visited the Haruru Falls as well as the Treaty House at Waitangi - where the British and Maori signed the Treaty in 1840. We also visited the Maori Meeting House which as some wonderful carvings on the walls and roof - representing all the Maori tribes in New Zealand.

We then travelled back to Auckland where we spent a wonderful day with Makene (my May baby buddy) and his family having a picnic in the Auckland Domain. Makene and I were both born in May 1997 and it was so exciting to finally meet one of my 'cyber' friends. As most of the others live in USA, Makene will probably be the only one I ever meet! We had lots of fun playing in the park and Mum and Dad enjoyed talking to Merle (Makene's Mum). It was a great day and we all took lots of photos to remember the day!

I love being in my backpack - I sit up high so that I can see everything, it's really great fun. When we were in New Zealand, we walked around many places and I travelled in the back pack a lot. It's really comfortable and as you can see, I can read in it, sleep in it and am protected from the rain as well.
After visiting the Bay of Islands and Auckland, we flew down to the South Island and visited Dunedin, Te Anau, Queenstown and Christchurch. At Dunedin, we went to see Larnach Castle (the only castle in the southern hemisphere) and the Hoiho (yellow-eyed) Penguin Sanctuary. I fell asleep when the penguins were returning to their burrows but Mum and Dad tell me that they were pretty spectacular!

At Te Anau, we went up in a sea plane and took a flight over the New Zealand Alps and Doubtful Sound. It was magnificent and you felt like you were so close to the snow capped mountains.

In Queenstown, Dad went whitewater rafting (that's when I fell asleep in my back pack in the photo above) and we caught the gondola to Bob's Peak then hiked to the top of the mountain. The view was wonderful!

Not all our time was spent travelling, we had plenty of time for fun things as well. Sometimes, I just kicked back with my Dad, played in the playground (I love slides) or made sure I got plenty to eat!
I hope that you have enjoyed this brief look at my holiday to New Zealand. We took plenty of photos, so when some more are scanned, we will add them to this page. Til then, thanks for sharing my holiday!
