WELCOME TO MY GARDEN
I live in N.E. Oklahoma in the country. Gardening is "1" of my passions. I hope to share that passion here on this page. I don't have a favorite flower. I LOVE them all !!!!!! This year I have an extensive list of annuals I am going to plant. Here are a few of the many. :-)
Marigolds - of course.
Mexican Heather.
Ageratum.
Begonias.
Impatients.
Rose Moss.
My list of perennials is sooooooooooooo long I could never list them all. Here is a sampling of them: Shasta Daisies, Mums, Tulips, Daffodils, Creeping Phlox, Gladiolas, Hibiscus, Roses & many more. I hope to have some pictures scanned & here befor the summer is done.
I still grow a few vegetables. Not many tho. Tomatos are #1 veggie grown here. A few pepper plants. I have switched to containers for these veggies. It is alot less work & much easier to care for them. Water & fertilizer are the most important tools when growing in containers. I found this out the hard way !! To get my tomatos off to an early start I place a cage over the container. (usually a half whiskey barrel). Then I place a large black garbage bag inside the cage.
Cut an X in the bottom of the bag. I let this sit for a week or so to let the soil warm up. I plant the tomato in the X & water well. If a cold snap is forcasted I pull the top of the bag closed & fasten with twine or a clothespin. Be sure to undo the top as soon as the weather warms up the next day or you will have cooked your new tomato plant !!!!!!!!!!!
