We based our plans upon our stay at a beach resort in Costa Del Sol, Club La Costa at Marina Del Sol. The resort belongs to a chain of resorts, Club La Costa, which has a number of resorts in Costa Del Sol.
RCI has it’s web site with a directory of all its resorts. Enter the RCI online directory and look for resort # 1409 - you will get a couple of photographs and a little information on the resort and its surroundings. All we can add is that the photographs of the resort don’t do it justice, because the place is absolutely magical, so we took a picture of the view from the room where we stayed - enjoy!

Enter the RCI site and search for site # 1409:

Club La Costa at Marina Del Sol resort is situated about 3 km from Fuengirola, a small beach town, which is about 30 km east of Malaga, the capital city of Andalucia county.
In Fuengirola you can tour the long beach and eat the local food, which consists mainly on seafood. The most "Andalucian" dish is the paella, served in a pan, which is a spicy mixture of yellow rice and different kinds of seafood.
In our visit to this town, we encountered many tourists in town, mainly for its sunshine, beaches and tranquillity.

Malaga is the capital city of the county. It is big and has its own airport and seaport. There are some places of interest in the city, and we visited some of them: the main Cathedral, the house where Pablo Picasso was born, the Alcazaba (an old castle) and the Castillo De Gibralfaro, a fortress build on a big hill, from which you can view the whole city and its surroundings including the mountains. We took a picture of the view from the top of the hill.

Here's a great looking site with photographs and details on the main attractions in the city:

The area of Costa Del Sol is full of small and colorful towns, a fact that attracts many tourists. The main attraction are churches and bull-fighting, so you can find a lot of both in any small town. We visited Ronda, Mijas and Benalmadena. Here is a picture from Benalmadena to show you the white houses of the little towns of Costa Del Sol.

If you rent a car, you can drive south to the cliff of Gibraltar, from which you can view (if weather allows) two continents: Europe and Africa. The climb up the rock is very  steep and driving a car, although expensive, is much easier, however very much worth the effort - the place is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. There are also few attractions: local monkeys, a cave, a Moorish fortress and more.
Gibraltar and the neighboring town of La-Linea are about 140 km west of Malaga, and it is under British Ruling, so you can use both British and Spanish currency. However there is a little flaw to the place - traffic in/out of the cliff is horrible (it took us 1 hour to stand in line for passport check point), so take that into consideration when planning your schedule.

For your use, a map of the rock of Gibraltar:
